GOLF !!!!

Golf in the tri counties is a touchy subject. Although this is a Corbin Tourism thread and a corbin website, in this case, we have to go out of town to help the golfer tourists.

Tri County Country Club- A private course located on 25W, going toward Barbourville. I don't know if they allow out of town green fee players, but, just call and ask, they're in the phone book. A nice, 9 hole course. You can walk it easily if you wish.

Crooked Creek- A private course as well, but they used to allow pay-to-play openly. Again, I'm not sure if they still do. 18 holes, a very nice course, but, it's not a walking course. Located in London.

London Country Club- Another London course. A very beautiful, rolling course. It's an older, established course. It's very fun to play. You can walk it easily, only a couple of tough walking holes. 18 holes. Call for info.

Williamsburg Golf Course- Located on hwy 25 between corbin and williamsburg. Another older, local course. Call for info.

Indian Springs- Located outside of Barbourville. Another older, walkable course. 9 holes.

Pineville- A very nice, fairly new course. 18 holes, located right off highway 25 outside of pineville. A kentuky state park course. Very nice, but a high green fee for a state park course. Worth playing.

There's more, around the area, but are farther away. These courses can be driven to in 45 minutes or less.

Sorry I didn't get the phone #s', but, they're in the book or on the web.

Please, more comments needed.

Today I saw in the paper that Rep. Charles Siler now says we are going to get a golf course and the land will be purchased from private interests. Who? Is this another one of those take care of the buddies project? I thought they were tryuing to get some land from either the Federal or State Government. With all the land located near Cumberland Falls being owned by the government why in the world can't they put the Golf Course on that property. This smells like another Whitley County Jail dea., or Post Office, or Waterpark, or airport. Will the same group hit the jackpot again?

We are looking forward to the Golf Course at Cumberland Falls State Park. When will it be finished?

What did ever happen on the Golf Course? Rep. Siler told us it was coming soon. Is is under construction? Is it supposed to be ready by next spring?

That letter from Donnie Witt in the Times Tribune was a surprise to most of us. The people of this area had no idea of how the Terrells were also involved in promoting Cumberland Falls State Park for a golf site. I would like to see that presentation Bob Jr. developed. Could it be shown on this website?

Is it true that Gov. Fletcher took the Cumberland Falls Golf Course out of the budget at the last minute?

And what has happened to the connector road from Rt.6 in Woodbine to the bypass?
