New car insurance laws,,,,,,,the innocent shouldn't pay for the guilty.

Something needs to be done about the auto insurance mess in this state. What, you ask, it would take a gig of memory for all of it, but,,,,,,,,,,

The innocent shouldn't pay for the guilty. Everyone should have insurance, everyone. But, to penalize me, with no accidents, no tickets, no sports cars, for those that drink and drive, get constant traffic violations, etc., is not right.

I've lived in states where the car insurance is in line with your driving record. The bad drivers pay, not the good. And when I've moved home, my insurance doubles or triples. Something is wrong.

If you get a DUI, you get a special assessment. I don't care how much,,,,,,,,add $2000 a year to them. If they drink and drive, too bad. I don't do it. So, I won't pay it.

Speeding,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,hammer them.

I've started doing some research on this, and as big of a mess that it is,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,there is a solution.

One thing, driving is a privledge, not a right.

Another problem is the Insurance companies use any excuse they can think of to raise rates, not only here in Kentucky but everywhere. There needs to be federal regulations placed on the Insurance Industry, one of the largest scam industries in our country. Look at what people in Louisiana and surrounding states had to go through to receive a trickle of help after Katrina. I have friends who have gone through major medical problems, only to have their insurance reject their claims for months, even years until push comes to shove. We are forced by law to carry auto insurance, but there are hardly any laws in place on this industry. I remember switching auto insurance 3 or 4 years ago, and one of the MANDITORY questions on the new company's application was "What are you currently paying now?" I was living in another state and was "Safe Driver", no tickets or claims in over 20 years - what business is it of theirs what I'm paying? Give me your best rate. While I was actually paying over $2800, I put down $1100, and surprise, my quote came in at $1096. If I had put $1500, I would have been quoted $1496. I don't know how people can sell for and represent some of these companies.

It is a shameful and dishonest industry, and they need to be regulated in a major way. Maybe with the Dems in control something will happen, then again, maybe not.

Wonder how much the insurance lobby donates to ALL the political candidates in just kentucky.

Also, when you check rates, they ask for your old policy. They say it's so they can make sure they're quoting the same thing you have now.

And, see my other post,,,,,,,,,THE INSURANCE TAX.

Many locals don't know this even exitsts. No, the insurance companies doesn't add this, the local governments do. Another scam.

Also, have you noticed all the lawyer advertising - INJURED? Call Moe and Joe Attorney at law, we'll get you what you deserve!!!!

There are 51.5 Million People with No Health Care at all in this Country, just can not afford it, this also applies to auto's, unfortunatley they find a way to get behind the wheel. The Gov has to turn their head as these folks drive the Economy as they make up a portion of the work force. Clerks-Attendants, so on an so forth.

The Real Fact is for every Premium we pay on anything where it be Health-Auto-Home, your coving the super millions of no-insurance or under-insured.

This makes an Industry of which you have some very good points on, even more tougher to deal with.

This is a Federal Problem and they are unwilling to deal with it because of the Massive Lobby Money---------Take a look at the Gov web site showing lobby Campain money from the Ins. Industry into Ky over the last 20 Years, see who accepted it, there is your answer, same thing in other states.
