Yes, driving while talking on a cell phone should be a felony with the first offense loss of license for 90 days. In the last week, I've come close to being in an accident 5 times, and every darn one of them were on a cell phone. Three of them were driving and talking while on these snow covered roads in the last few days. If you drive and talk, YOU'RE A ROAD HAZARD.
Yep, this needs to happen. Of course, it won't. The politicians do it themselves I'm sure.
I know of three of my kids friends that has had accidents in the last year because they were talking on a cell phone while driving. They are only 16 and 17, and they think they're bullet proof. They're not.
This is right in line with the seat belt laws. Driving is a privlidge, not a right.
Keep this in mind if you're ever in an accident with someone using the phone.
And, before you ask, NO, I do not have a cell phone. I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but, that's my choice.
Take it a step further - jail them if they speak in their vehicle, period.
Just joking, but I have to ask you one question. Is talking on a cell phone any different than talking to a passenger in your car? Driving while lecturing your kid who's sitting in the back seat? Listening to a Book on CD? Eating a Cheeseburger, fries and drinking a soda while driving? Any worse than women putting on makeup while trying to drive?
I think headsets should be required, but a FELONY for talking on your phone while driving? We would all be felons, including the people who make these laws.
The big problem is the idiots that drive while dialing. That is the problem. I've been close to an accident 2 times this month because the driver was dialing the damn phone while they were driving.
