Little league baseball has started in Corbin. My child is playing in both Whitley Co. and Corbin's league. Corbin has always had outstanding "feeder" programs, but we are going to suffer terribly when you compare the two programs. There are several Corbin parents and children that are involved in both this year, just to give it a try, but probably won't try Corbin next year without a guarantee that it will improve. I paid $30 for hat, jersey, pants & socks in Whitley and $40 for a t-shirt and donated hat. There are no bleechers by some of the fields and an unorganized mess. Our leaders better get on the ball with child activities....
Corbin does have a very good program. They have always opened the doors to youngsters across our area since they started in 1952. I just hope the parents will let the youngsters enjoy this time of their lives and not mess it up by their pressure to win and loud mouths. Baseball is supposed to be a fun time in kids lives.
I agree with the last post. I want my child to have the same experience that I did in our little league program. It has changed and they are now trying to go back to the way it was, but it is a disorganized mess. We have had 2 scheudles, most coaches weren't contacted until 5 days prior to the first game. Blast ball last year was a joke, coach pitch this year is a chaotic mess -- one child batting and 20 trying to catch. What is this teaching about the rules and mechanics of the sport? It just appears that it was thrown together at the last minute and is done subpar as opposed to top notch which we should expect -- We shouldn't have to settle for second best.
