We had the same thing when they voted in the lotter years ago. The terrible aspects of the lottery that the "no" side kept speaking of never came about.
I say, put it on the ballot. That'll show if WE want it or not.
The only reason Fletcher and the rest do not want it is mainly because they can't have their hand in it.
It's a tourism thing. Any time you have tourism money, it's totally positive.
Remember, the lottery didn't bring in organized crime and all the stuff they talked about.
Neither candidate is worth anything, they are both liars and more, so, this may be the deciding factor on who I vote for, regardless of what party they represent.
Steve Beshear is wanting the people to decide on the gambling issue. He just wants there to be a vote. Afterall, a Governor is serving the people.
Regardless of what you think about the Gambling issue, Fletcher has one of the most corrupt administrations in our history, in my opinion. Look at how many of his people he had to pardon. Look at the way he took checks out to announce projects and went back to Frankfort with donations from some of the people who would be receiving money from his administration.
His Lt. Governor supported Northup in the primary. If anyone should know how bad state leadership has been, it should be the man 2nd in command. This is a mess. We need a change now. Do you want to give 4 more years to a failure?
The same people that don't want casino gambling didn't want the lottery, didn't want alcohol sales in corbin, no adult stores anywhere, want no smoking in corbin business's, and they think they're going to heaven just because they're at the church every time the doors are open and write a big check. They don't want anything except to have it all, and then, during their free time, to go out of town and gamble at the casino or the gambling boat, buy beer in a restaurant and some for the room, visit the adult store and park next door and walk in and pay cash so they can't see the name on their check or credit card, then smoke cigar's by the ocean or on the lake, and say you don't have to go to church on vacation.
We will have casino gambling, it's a matter of when.
IMHO, the only reason Fletcher doesn't want casino gambling is because it's too late to get his hand in it.
Tourism money is found money. If you build them ,they will come. We've proven that with the lottery, the off track betting, and the alcohol vote (locally).
Add to that the preachers don't want anything to do with it cause they're afraid it will take away from their collection plates, and reduce their salaries.
