Corbin Main Street Lunch and Lecture Series

Looks like a great program Ms. Myers and her committees have come up with, I've heard Mr. McFadden speak and this should be a great event series.

Anyone know which restaurants are catering these luncheons?

This will be an interesting series. This is another way to interest people in coming downtown and bringing our people together.

It was great. There must have been at least 50 people in attendance. Some of us are going to try to attend each one of them.

Jr. why did you edit this post? This was not the original one. You will edit what you want to, but people are being bashed everyday and you never touch it. What makes this one any different????? I have proof of the original post. Why was it changed?

Who knows. I do know he's banning people now and editing posts he doesn't agree with. says a lot, don't you think?

A comment from your location/network about Sheas/Seasons, the people who catered the Lecture Luncheon, is the reason you/they were banned.

I think I saw that post before it was censored or edited. If it is the post I am thinking of then it was all true. And they don't exactly hide it.

I can see a personal thing that someone does not want to draw attention to being edited especially if it was intended to be cruel but what that poster said was true and probably wasn't that big of a deal and those folks do put it out there for the world to see.

I've been reading and posting to these message boards for a long time, and i love them because i always thought the admin was a free speech guy but i'm starting to wonder. i'd like to know what was so horrible about the original post.

I talked to the woman who made the post that was edited. She told me all she said was something like "the guys wearing all the makeup made a good sandwich." Not sure what the problem was Jr. had with it, but now you know the truth.

Sorry last poster, but you are NOT speaking the truth when you say "something like" that your friend posted. "Something like" is totally different than what was actually written. Your friend is lying. Unless of course you want to ask her "exactly" what she wrote, and post it here. "Something like" is not acceptable.

If you are so concerned that the poster did not get it exactly right then maybe the Terrells will put her post back on. There was no reason to edit it in the first place. I saw the post. No names were mentioned. No foul language was used.

Interestingly, only two messages have been deleted or modified in the past month, pertaining to other people - the one above regarding the owners of Sheas/Seasons, and a comment about someone being handicapped or in a wheelchair. After a couple of discussions about the posts, we decided to delete or modify the posts and banned the block of IP addresses.

Regarding IP addresses, this poster claims we've banned "their" IP address. Its the "their" part that is not correct.

This person is using what is called the TOR Network or an open proxy, which basically uses servers donated by volunteers around the world, allowing them to sit at their home or office and logon to an open proxy network that connects or bounces them through several routers throughout the world on the TOR network to hide their location. Viewed from the destination, the traffic appears to originate at the TOR exit router.

The two posts mentioned above that were deleted/modified were posted using the TOR network, as have been dozens of posts the past week.

The above message complaining "Why are the Terrells editing posts and banning IP addresses from posters who opposes their ideas?" is from a TOR router in Boston.

The post about how great the Lunch and Lecture series was just the day before and that also included the sandwich comment indicated it came from Amsterdam - not Amsterdam, KY, but The Netherlands. Other posts from this person/persons have supposedly come from IPs in Germany, Japan, Sweden, Marina Del Rey, CA, Dallas, TX and numerous other locations.

Many websites ban TOR network users, such as the online encyclopedia Wikipedia. Here is one of the IP addresses that has posted on here in the past several days, and as you can see, it was banned by Wikipedia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:216.9.84.146.

We have now blocked some of the TOR network IP's, and will continue to block them in the future.

So, when a person says they are going from location to location to connect, all they are really doing is logging off and logging back on at their same location on the same PC.

Or they travel incredibly great distances just to post on here.

Also, for any of you that have been talked into using the TOR Network or an open proxy, you might want to read the following article from Wired Magazine. You might think you are "Ultimately Anonymous", but you, your network and your computers are not necessarily secure.

I believe that you have not only the right but the responsibility as board administrator to remove any post that has inappropriate content but why is it so important to you that a poster not use a proxy server? Are you that much of a control freak that you must know the IP address of everyone who posts on your board? What difference does it really make? Their post is what matters not their IP address.

This isn't the administrator, but bless you too, previous poster, for helping us keep the criminals, child molesters, and terrorists off this board, as they are the types that use the programs that keep their IP address's hidden. Your concern for our safety and our children's and country's safety is admirable.

thats not freedom of speech, what about allowing everyone the oportunity to say what they want

If this is a one sided board how can your criticism of the Board keep showing up? If we all play by the same rules this is an effective means for communication. But other message boards don't allow people to post if they are sending messages from a zillion different places, some overseas.
