New excavation work just past El Dorado's, anyone know what they're doing.

Drove by today, and noticed a lot of new excavation work being done on the property just past El Dorado's restaurant, next to the Bingo hall.

Just wondering if anyone knew what was going on. That's a big piece of property.  Just about anything could go in there.

Wonder if it's in the city limits.

I was told it was being cleaned up for kentucky's first casino after the election.
Big money wants Corbin to lead the way, being the first wet area off i-75 from the south.

Don't be too sure about that. The people will vote on this issue. Beshear just wants this to be up to the people. I am for Beshear and against Casino Gambling. I am glad he wants to let the people decide.

They're spending an awful lot of money to clean it up, but, if you want to sell it I guess, you got to spend money to make money.

A casino, sure why not.  Of course, that'll be a year or so.

Maybe the first Hooter's is coming to town.

I know it was meant to be a funny story but it really is a site being considered for a new "boutique" style casino/ hotel designed to take advantage of the Cumberland Falls tourism as well as the weekend OH/ NKY lake people who have been displaced by Lake Cumberland's water woes. Like it or not...its coming!

Thanks Walter. I support Beshear and I am pleased his interest is in getting the people of Kentucky to vote on this issue.  The people of Kentucky may turn it down. It would create some good jobs and bring a lot of tax dollars to Corbin.

That's a tough position, pro Beshear anti-Casino.  He and his running mate have advertised that's how they are going to fund health care changes.  Based on this, I don't think Beshear just wants to put it to the people for a vote.  He wants the revenues.wink

Hey, for someone to be putting out some cash to clean that lot up, it must be something coming in. The fuel bill alone will be tremendous for all that machinery.

Casino, strip joint, Hooters, as long as it brings in tax revenue.

Ive heard that the Adult Store in Gray area has sold out to Larry Flynts' Hustler Store and is going to relocate on a site being constructed next to the interstate  in South Corbin, just like in Lexington.

The people will still have to vote whether they want Casino Gambling or not. It seems this is a little premature planning.

Hate to burst the bubble of those who want poker, porn and pimps, but I was told by the developer that it will be a couple of strip malls.

Not a problem with any of those, as long as there's a tax base. I hope it's in the city though. Maybe they'll apply for city sewer, and we can tell them "Not unless you annex into the city, no city, no sewer." I'm all for that.

The casino was a big hope though. Although it would have given certain groups something to protest about on their free nights.

We may still get a Casino yet.

They are spending a lot of money on this lot not to have a purpose in mind for it. They were pouring some concrete up on the flat this week.

I'll be interested to know what is going in there.
