Heard on the radio today, that since Tennessee passed such a high cigarette tax and their sales have dropped off, they are sending their police officers into kentucky to stake out our mobile tobacco stores, and when they spot tennessee tagged cars loading up and heading south, they call ahead and have them stopped and searched. News reports say the officers can take your car for carrying "illegal" contraband into the state, as you're only allowed to bring in 2 cartons of out of state cigs.
Of course, it'll be hard for them to distinguish all the kentucky residents using Tennessee tags on their cars, but, I'm sure they'll sort it all out.
Any comments. It's been all over the knoxville tv news, the knoxville papers, and talk radio all week.
