While discussing the Vangent company possibly leaving due to the incompentence of the city leaders and economic development chairman, the issue of corbins larger employers came up. In the city limits employers that is. Here's what we came up with, feel free to correct or add as you need to. They're in no certain order. The number of employees are just estimates based on what we think is ther, again, correct them if need be.

There's a top 20+ list, if some were left out, add them. Some around town I wasn't sure of, like all the nursing homes in south corbin, the railroad as far as if the offices are in the city or not, and so on.
While this looks good to the city for the taxes they collect on their salaries, another question would be how many of these employees live in the city limits. I'd say, less than half, or even less than a third.
If all the employees of these business's lived in the city, imagine the voting power they would have. We wouldn't have the people in office we have now.

Is the Pickard Chrysler car dealer and the Suzuki car dealership in the city limits. If not, that means there are no new car dealerships located in the city limits of corbin, as Gambrel's is in laurel county. I'm not sure.
I know the chinese restaurant across from Pickards, as they sell beer and wine, so they have to be.
I'll tell you two more.
Save Rite Pharmacy must have 50 people that work there overall. That's why their service is so fast. And, Johnny Wheels and Owens have a lot of folks too. I'd say Johnny's has 25 or more, and Owens probably 75-100.
National City Bank is one too, probably 50+.
And in the post above, you mentioned Tri County Bank, but, if you add all the Forcht Groups offices in corbin, it would probably add another 100 or so.
Can you imagine if all these employees lived in the city limits and voted in the city limits. We'd have some real, bona fide leaders and committee members.
I wonder how many are on the corbin end of laurel county. Probably more on that exit than the entire corbin city put together.

I made a few additions as shown above.
Many of those folks drive to Corbin from other areas for employment. Corbin has always been a sort of Economic Hub for Southeast Kentucky. Thanks for posting this information.
Remember, anyting on the other side of Lynn Camp Creek, in Knox County, corbin receives NO occupational tax money from, thanks to our cowardly city government.
