And by the way, if I understand this occupational tax issue and it's clauses, occupational tax money is taken from the wages earned in the county in which they are worked.

So, that means a large part of the money earned by pepsi employees that work out of the vending department in the new industrial park, all goes to knox county, along with all the CTA money.

That is a great question. The Pepsi operation that came into Corbin, Knox County was primarily located in Gray, Knox County and their occupational tax was already going to Knox County.

CTA was located in Laurel County and they now pay their occupational taxes to Knox County.

In 2004 negotiations were held and a new interlocal agreement was reached in which the Corbin Industrial Commission receives 10% of the Knox County occupational taxes that come from companies in the Regional Business Park including CTA and Pepsi, or $48,000, which ever is greater. Any other businesses that locate in the Regional Park will result in the Corbin Industrial Commission receiving 10%.  The six counties that are partners in the Regional Park receive 15% each.

Corbin receives property taxes, inventory taxes, and business license fees from companies that locate in the Regional Park.

I did not know that. Where in Gray was the Pepsi plant located? Is another business located there now?

It wasn't the Pepsi plant, it was the vending dept. of pepsi that was in Gray, in the old Grippo's office and warehouse. They moved their vending operation to the new industrial park. Break Time Vending I believe is the official name, it's a sRestaurant Consultantff of Pepsi.

Pepsi bought out several smaller vending machine companies to eliminate the competition. There's only one company left, G&S, to give them any competition.
