Can a politican be a Christian, and can a Christian be a politician?

This is a fair question in this day and age. It's becoming an issue in our upcoming presidential elections, it was in our recent governors race, and it could be in our upocoming local elections.

Christians should do the right thing in all aspects of life, no matter what. With politics what they are, especiall locally, can you answer the question.

This is a standard Democrat diversoin question. Democrats be little Christians in the political arena as silly. If you admit to being a Christian they try to marginalize you. Don't fall in this trap.

Some Republicans are like the Phairisees. When Christ healed on the Sabbath Day they got all upset about it and condemned Christ.

Many Republicans condemn Democrats but who is it that plays tap dance in the men's room stall at the Airport? Who is it that hits on male pages at the Congress?  I am a Democrat and I don't belittle Christians. I don't like hypocrites  who act like they are godly and judge others while sinning up a storm in their own lives.

God will judge us. HE did not select us as the Judges of other people. And God forgives.

The last poster tries to confuse the issue. All Republicans sin, they are born sinners. However, the Repubilcan Party does not advocate sin. To the contrary, the Democrat party promotes sin such as homosexuality, sex out of marriage laziness etc. There is a big difference in the parties.

The Republican Party calls for people to obsevre a morale way of life even if individuals fail at times.

I am a Democrat and have been all of my life. However, the parties' platforms are offensive to Christian doctrine. To support the death of unborns is an abomination. Hillary and osama or obama or whatever his name is are wrong to support abortion.

Can you make false promises, or lie about your opponent candidate? Can you stand in front of a man or woman, shake their hand, and tell them you support some cause they belive in, and then blatantly go against it. Can you tell someone you're behind them when you serve on a committee, and then vote against them. Can you be a sunday school teacher to children, and then lie to their fathers and mothers faces.

Can you do any of that and be a christian. If you're a politician and you do that, are you still a christian.

A better question would be can someone who provides a forum that backstabs their friends and neighbors and causes old friends to turn against each other be a Christian? It is comparable to holding the coat of others while they cast a few stones. Maybe even casting a few themselves while the victim is down.

So tell me blessed one, because someone disagrees or has another opinion, they shouldn't voice it.

The bible is fine, but you need to look up from it sometimes and see how the world really is.

Tell me also, are the tax collectors sinners becasue they do their job ordered by the king?

Are warriors sinners because they kill in battle, following the orders of their leaders safely behind the lines?

Are the drinkers sinners becsuse they drink, or are the sinners the ones who judge the drinkers saying they're bad because they drink.

Are the gamblers sinners because they bet a dollar, or is the gamer the sinner, because they run the game to allow the gambler to bet?

Which is the worse sinner?

In America, many churches damn drinking and drinkers. They don't want to sit next to them on sunday in a restaurant while they're eating after coming from church. In Europe, they serve beer and wine at church dinners and celebrations held in the church. Which is the sinner here?

You tell us, o' blessed one.

If reading a message board makes it hard for you to be a good christian, I suggest you don't read it. You also better not listen to talk radio, Fox News, MSNBC or CNN, read the newspaper, or discuss your political views with your friends, co-workers or aquaintances.

I told you that this thread is from the Democrat playbook to marginalize Christians, and that is exactly what is happening. The National Democrat leadership hates what Chriatinaity stands for.

Angela B, I think the poster makes a good point. Many good men and women in our town, elected, appointed and volunteers, are mercilessly trashed on here every day and I don't think it is a good thing. People seem to have a very un Christrian attitude on here. Your attack on the poster for pointing this out seems uncalled for. Do you want people to leave the board that you don't agree with? It seems like you are trying to be a control freak.

Angela, I know that you are responding to the poster who said it was hard for them to read the message board, but I don't think that Casting Stones was talking about just reading the message board but some of the unkind things that people post on it. To my knowledge Fox and CNN are not used to dog the mayor and other local officials. This board is like a wild west hideout for people that don't get their way in town, have an axe to grind or maybe just don't get enough hits on their own website. Angela, have you ever been to a City, Tourism, Chamber or any other local government meeting and not been allowed to present your ideas? If you have some good ideas then share your thoughts with the appropriate people. You were raised better than to use the hit and run anonymous tactics on your elected and appointed leaders. You have a great deal to offer.

Well Angela, it appears the poster thinks they know you, and that's fine. But, I'll add to their comments, if you've ever tried to talk to your elected and appointed leaders, you know the frustration of trying to get your point across, as they are defensive from the start of your conversation, particularly the appointed committee chairs and members. They know no other way than their own, and it's their way or the highway. They feel their position gives them instant knowledge and experience, but it doesn't.

Good luck should you persue that avenue, and let us know how it goes.

Its funny how Osama Barrack is now running commercials in Iowa about Christmas with his alledged family acting like he supports Christains even though he is a Muslim. Democrats, they will do anything.

There are just as many good Christian Democrats as there are good Christian Republicans. There are sinners in both parties because we are all sinners.  There was a Republican Congressman Foley who professed to be a holier than thou person who hit on male pages in the congress.  There is a Republican Congressman who has been a very strong and vocal advocate of religious values who was filmed in an airport rest room stall playing footsy with another man. When Guiliami was Mayor of New York City while he was still married to his second wife he had his girl friend living in the Mayor's House before his divorce was final.

Our past Governor was supposed to be a big law and order leader and he ended up pardoning a bunch of his corrupt and conspiring cronies.  Bush lied about WMD, about Iran's nuclear capabilities, about how much the war would cost, how long it would last, and declared the war was over when in fact it may never be over.

You see the mote in a Democrats eye and fail to see the big boulder in a Republican's eye.  I am not saying Democrats are better than Republicans but we are all God's Children and none of us are perfect.

Merry Christmas and may we all strive to be better people.
