Varsity Club hands over check for track

A good article in the weekend edition of the Times. Varsity Club hands over check for track. The club gave a check for $40,000 to the school board. Another great example of good people helping to make our community even better.

A great year for the Varsity Club, Ron Bowling is certainly a worker and g getter! Ron will flat work his tail off on anything he does and the results prove it.

Hard to believe Marlon Sam's can replace Bowling, no where near the worker that Bowling was, we'll have to see what unfolds but I hear many will exit the Varsity Club this coming year if things do not change.

Yes another great example of the VARISITY CLUB doing the wrong thing, Why give the school money for a track that is not used? The school had the money for the repairs but asked the club any way. So yes it is a great example of the school system taking advantage of the poor mgt of the varsity club. What will they do next??

Great job to the Varsity Club.

Wrong thing, I don't think so. Not used, take a ride down to the track in the spring. Our track teams practice there every day. Now, they can hold meets there.

Both my kids were on the track team in high school, and were very disappointed we couldn't hold meets there. Now we can.

So what if the school asked for the money, now they can use it for other purposes.

What will they (the varsity club) do next, I don't know, but I'm sure it will be a huge success.

The Varsity Club may not be perfect but it has done a great job for the students of Corbin High School since the early 1980's.
. Each year the Club gives a donation to the school that is divided among all the boys and girls athletic teams.
. The club has helped pay for the weight and conditioning equipment over the years.
. The club helped fund the Baseball  Park in the early 1990's.
. The club raised the funds for the construction of the Ossie Burch Fieldhouse.
. The club raised some of the funds for the Girl's Softball
Field.
. The club made a donation for the new tennis complex.
. The club made a donation for the improvement to the Track and field and field facility.
. The club started the Pigskin Football Classic in the early1990's.
. The clus star the Cumberland Falls Invitational Basketball Tournament.

I am sure I have overlooked some things they have done.  The Varsity Club has been good Corbin and its students.

No body ever sais that that it was not good to the students!! I said that the school system takes advantage of the club, and the club is going in the wrong direction now. Yes the club was started for all of the good reasons and I hope that it can turn it around but I don't think the new leader has it in him. only time wil tell I hope that I am wrong

My husband attends all the Varsity Club meetings and I think you have it all wrong. He said the club approached the school system about this idea, not the other way around.

Obviously the track needed to be fixed! Our students couldn't even have a official meet at their own school. I think the leaders of the club made the right call. You must have some axe to grind with them because you didn't get your way once or something. Get over it and try to be a team player.

On this I can agree with Little League Mom.

I agree. It has changed from the days when Bill Hoover was a leader in the Club.
