The rumor for years has been that city leaders were going to get rid of the city manager and get somebody that could actually run the city like a business.
I think they would find that city government could be operated much more efficiently with the right kind of CEO in charge.
A solid city manager would see that all city employees did their job. This would include getting property tax bills out on time and getting holiday trash picked up efficiently like it used to be.
It is my understanding in March Mr Cannon will be releived of his duties and will be replaced by Mr Capenter. If this indeed happens it wll be a great move for the city of Corbin.
I agree with the above poster! We need to get our leaders working for the people. Maybe Bob Terrell Sr. or Bob Jr. would take the job. They seem to get things done for our town!
Bob Sr. has an outstanding resume' but i'm sure he would not be interested. Perhaps young Bob would. The fruit doesn't fall far from the tree. Perhaps he is as able as his father?
If Cannon is ever replaced it needs to be with someone that has been a city manager before. That is if the city leaders want Corbin to be competitive with other cities. I cannot imagine them putting a good ole boy from around here in the city managers position. Might as well keep Cannon.
I wonder how Willard and the gang at city hall will spin the success of Bill Ed finally getting out the tax bills? I'm sure they'll make it a major event, showing how good a job they did, getting them out only 90 days later than normal. They'll give them an award for finally getting our software to match up with the rest of the states too.
This fiasco was an embarassment to the entire city. It also showed the lack of oversight of our mayor and commissioners of the city operations, and the city management personell.
I read on another post somewhere about putting commissioners over one area of city government, to act as a sort of observer and "go to" person. Well, this demonstrates the need for that very much.
