The new board policy of having to register a user name has cut down the number of posts, but it has also seemed to eliminate the personal slams and and snotty remarks so far. Sure you can still disagree with people, voice your own opinions, and even complain about local elected officials and city management, that's part of it. You can still complain about the state government or governor, the white house and the president and the elected officials and their policies, but, you put a name to it, be it a user name or your own. In my opinion, that's just fine.
I personally think that many of the "cheap shot" remarks were made by people just wanting to start some bad blood amongst everyone on the board, and in the town as well. You can still make them if you wish, but, the name you use goes with it.
What would you think about locking all the threads on the board with anonymous postings, and putting them in the archives. Then, we can start over, with all the topics and all the subjects, and only have posts with user names on them.
There are some good topics and threads on the board, but they are infiltrated with the cheap shots that some folks has taken, and made the threads somewhat unpleasant to read.
Now this is just a suggestion, and I'd love to hear the opinions of all that post here, and even if we all did want to do this, the administrator would have the final say, after all, it's his board, and he pays the bills.

Some of the cheap shot comments were so poorly written and so obvious, it made the other stance on a particular issue even stronger. Also, some of these posts were so stupid that they were a good source of humor. I'll miss some of the laughs, such as the "Green with Envy" comments, and especially the 4th grade playground verbage such as "Your so dumb and stupid nobody likes you and everyone leaves the room when you enter and your not as cool as me and your mother wears army boots". I've spoken to 2 of the board administrators, and 90% of the these comments, along with comments about the mayor, the commissioners, the city manager, the Terrells, the Fire Department, Sharea Myers, were from the small "Hidden IP" gang. Funny how they have stopped since the change in policy.
