Our elected officials are, in my opinion, abusing their offices by letting their personal feelings interfere with this casino vote issue. In my opinion, we elect them to push the issues that the voters prefer, not himself.
So what if Charlie Siler doesn't approve of the casino issue. He's not there to push his own agenda. He's there to push "OUR" agenda, the voters that elected him. I'm sure he'll say, "My supporters adamantly oppose casino gambling". I'm sure the 20 or so people he talks with and goes to church with does oppose it. But, he hasn't asked the rest of us our opinions. In my circles, everyone I've talked to supports it.
So, maybe we should have a special election in Siler's district to vote on whether Siler will vote for or against it. Then, if he opposes the majority, we can vote him out of office next time.
