After reading several comments by Estep concerning his role in the civic center dirt work project, it makes me wonder. In yesterday's paper, he commented that he just gave the money, and didn't have any say what they did with it.
Yet, when the train issue was brought up some time ago for the Downtown, he and Tipton had their noses all up in the business of what the money was going to be used for.
Strange, don't you think?
Are they different issues? Is one more important than the other.
The trains were $26K I believe, and the money pledged for the civic center was about $75K wasn't it? I guess his double standards got in the way this time. If he and Tipton had done more research on the Civic Center project, and especially Tipton being a lawyer and all, and with Tourism funding the large majority of the project it appeared, maybe all the mess that Sams started would have been averted.
Strange how Estep picks and chooses his battles.
But, now he's gone and we can breathe. Now we can approach the Tourism Commission with real ideas and projects and not be shot down at the beginning if he doesn't like it. Hopefully our new Tourism chair will have an open mind and know what tourism is really about.
