Estep says that the city has decided not to go with their previous choice of a management company to run the Expo Center. I hadn't read that, and as a matter of fact, that was the first I had heard of it since the last time it was published.
Strange how this wasn't mentioned an any of the meetings of the city commission, it must have been one of those "hallway" discussions we hear about.
This is disturbing, in that we need a professional management firm to run this operation, at least for a few years, to make it at least break even. It would be sort of like the City would build a Nuclear Powerplant, and let Bill Ed run it to save money. We'd all be glowing in three months.
I hope this doesn't further the rumor of the city hiring Carpenter to run this Expo Center. If that's so, woe be for the City of Corbin. We need professionals and experience in this forum, not NIBROC and the good ol boy network.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
As much as I disagree with Estep on many matters, I commend him on letting us know about this issue. He's doing what he's paid to do, inform the public. Good work on this one Don.
