I wish one of the top 2 restaurants (Vintage House - Depot) were open on Sunday. You have to go to London (and spend your Corbin earned $$ in London) to get a good meal in Sundays. It is time to move into the 21st century and allow Sunday Sales.
Anonymous wrote: My favorite Corbin restaurant, great menu, always good service, nice bar with large plasma TV, and a classy crowd. VH is my favorite also, but you can't beat a $1.50 burger and rings at The Root Beer Stand
The Root Beer Stand is amazing. They have customers filling up their parking area. The Vintage House is a classy place and when we take people from out ot town to eat there they love it.
I have to agree with you on the Sunday Sales. I don't personally care for alcohol but I would love to have the new restaurants that will only come if Sunday Sales are allowed.
I would also have to agree, I am not crazy about alcohol sales but there is no question these establishments actually need the Sunday Business to make an Investment here.
Not sure what the problem approving the Sunday sales is? We have already given the green light for 6 days, one more day should not make any difference.
I know when it was voted for, Sunday sales were never mentioned. But after it was voted in, someone changed it to no Sunday sales. It was never discussed before the vote.
Had dinner there last night and it was so hot we thought we were in the oven!! We asked to turn down the air or a fan. We had to get our food to go. The temp. was acutally about the same when we stepped outside. They are going to have to regulate the temperature during the heat of the summer!!!
Did you ask them about the inside temperature? Was their A/C on the fritz, or just bad planning on their part on a hot night? I have been at the Vintage House the past week and was very comfortable.
We ate at Vintage House the same night, and we were told, as was everyone that walked in, that the AC was out. Had a nice dinner, even though it was warm.
I have visited the Vintage House on occasion. I've always left there well satisfied with the food and the service. The aroma is outstanding! The waiter's are very professional. The food is wonderful. Always adding something else on the menu that temps me to want to 'try it all'! The musician is GREAT! A very talented man! A super nice guy that is a huge asset to the business. Their bartender's are very professional. Always remembering what I'd ordered and very prompt to refill, if it be my will. Never treating anyone like a stranger. It's as if it's never the first time you came in! That's a nice feeling if you're a stranger in town. Yep, Corbin is lucky to have such a classy place to dine. Just wished that the bar was larger :)
VH is my favorite, great food, decent service, but they need to turn the volume down on the Bar entertainment. The guy is a good musician, but if you are sitting in the bar while he is playing you have to scream at the top of your lungs to be heard. Can't carry on a conversation, and its a complaint I have heard from many patrons.

Need to cut the volume down by 50%.
Must agree! We really enjoy the place but the music is way too loud. When visiting with friends it is much more comfortable when you can talk and listen to good music at the same time. With this volumn level, it is impossible to do both and we sometimes opt for the other downtown location when we would much rather be at The Vintage House, especially since Courtney is there tending bar.

I visited the Vintage house. On my arrival back home in Lexington my wife accused me of camping out in the woods because my clothes smelled so bad. The food was fair I'll not return with my business partiners there because they were also dissapointed. We are in Corbin twice a month on business and will try our luck at another establishment.
How many times have we eaten in Lexington and gotten food and service that was poor? Many times and the prices were high and often the food was cold. We are sorry you had to go home smelling so bad but did you happen to think that may have been your own natural lousy odor and not the restaurants?

Thats funny, I eat at the Vintage House several times a month, and I have never smelled anything bad there until last week - you must have been sitting close by. It sounds as though where you dine isn't the root of your problem - I had an in-law with the same Body Odor issues. First, are you a local politician, or do work for or have close ties to the Fletcher Administration? Secondly, does your wife tell you put out a stench that smells of amonia, like you urinated on yourself while on an overnight campout? Or does she tell you smell similar to a NY cab driver heat of summer who went camping?
If you are a local politician or work for Fletcher, I'm sorry, but there is no hope. If you don't, you might try bathing and washing your clothes in Pinesol, buy a new mouthwash, and increase the chlorine in your pool or hot tub by about 200%.
As far as your wife, I recommend she stay with her boyfriend until you get this BO issue taken care of.

Good Luck.
Someone Please!!!!! Tell us that this last post didn’t come from anyone associated with the V H.
Who ever the poster is doesn’t belong on this board and I am ashamed that anybody could be subjected to such childish and immature ramblings.
That poster was probably from Lexington. I don't think he or she meant any illwill to anyone. Let's not be overly sensitive. Afterall this is Whitley County, America, the land of the free and home of the brave.

I'm not talking about the poster from Lexington its obvious that he was talking about the wood stove in the Vintage House. It was the responses after his post that is crude and childish and gave a bad reflection on Corbin. Very Immature!!!!!!!!! You obviously didn't read the reply.
This is obviously a competing restaurant that is talking so childish about 'the smell'!! The VH is simply a classy place to dine and enjoy and evening with no drama and pressures, unlike other places in our small town. The food is outstanding and reasonably priced. The wood smell is fantastic! I can't say that I've ever noticed anyone 'smelling bad' when they came out of their establishment.
Grow up fellow restaurant competitor's. You all have your 'own crowd' and if that's all you have to talk about is 'smell' and not service or price.. VH is doing wonderful! The VH has a much classier crowd and aroma is part of the ambiance as is the dim lighting and professional service. Unlike any other place in Corbin or surrounding area's.
PLEASE ALLLOW ME TO SHARE MY DINNING EXPERENCE .JUST TONIGHT,JUST TO BE DIFFRENT MY WIVE AND MYSELF DECIDED TO MAKE OUR FIRST VISIT TO THE VINTAGE HOUSE.WE WERE VERY IMPRESSED WITH BOTH THE BEAUTY AND ATMOSPHERE OF THE BUILDING. WE WERE GREETED AND SEATED VERY PROMPTLY.OUR HOSTES SOON CAME TO TAKE OUR DRINK ORDER.WHILE MAKING OUR SELECTION OUR HOSTES RETURNED WITH OUR ORDER AND TOOK OUR DINNER SELECTION.IN JUST A FEW MINUTES WE WER SERVED OUR SELECTION.NOW THIS IS WERE IS GOES DOWN HILL.FIRST WE WERE NEVER ASK TO REFILL OR REORDER OUR DRINKS,OUR STEAK WAS NOT PREPARED AS REQUESTED AND WAS COLD AS WAS OUR SIDE DISH.WE NEVER SEEN OUR HOST AGAIN UNTIL SHE BROUGHT US OUR BILL . $80.00.NOW ,WITHOUT COMPAINING WE PAID FOR OUR FIRST AND LAST MEAL AT THE VINTAGE HOUSE.
Doug, the owner is a fine man. Please tell him about your problem in order that he can see what needs to be done to better serve you. He wants to give good service and provide quality meals.
If your food wasn't cooked to your asking then, by all means, you should have told someone. Why eat what you didn't order? Who's to say that on that night it may have been your waitress' first night and she pulled someone else's order and they, in return, got yours!? By all means.. if you don't get what you ask for then speak up! If not.. then don't speak at all.
Doug is a fantastic person and he demands nothing but perfection in his business and will not settle for less. All you had to do was to tell him and he would have taken care of your mishap. He's a good and honest person. He's worked for his living like most of us have.
I know your hesitant to 'complain' as I've done so in other area restaurants and you wonder if your food is spit on! YUCK! You are most likely talked about behind your back by owner's but that's not the VH. That may be somewhere else in town.. but not there. Speak up
