BATTLE FOR THE BRASS LANTERN

Please allow me to thank everyone involved in this weekends Battle for the Brass Lantern. This community event hosted by the Redhound Varsity Club, Sponsored by W.D. Bryant and Union National Bank was a tremendous success. Not only did we enjoy a great ball game between these two great institutions, we were privileged to enjoy the University of the Cumberlands Marching Band along with The Kentucky National Guard during halftime. Our community was also rewarded by the success of this great event. Our area motels were full, our restaurants enjoyed new guest and the beauty of our area was exposed to over 4500 parents, students, and guest to our community. I have received compliments from Dalton, Georgia to Frankfort, Kentucky on the hospitality and professionalism that our guest were exposed to during this great event and while visiting our community. This event was also was co-sponsored by many local businesses and staffed by Corbin Varsity Club Members and local volunteers, Proceeds from the game after both colleges were compensated will be used by the Corbin Varsity Club in supporting our varsity sports program at Corbin High School. On behalf of the Corbin Varsity Club a special thanks to this community and volunteers who made this event possible. Hope to see you next year.

The Redhound Varsity Club did a fine job and the Tri-County area gained a lot in teamwork and cooperation from this game between the University of the Cumberlands and Union College. Both teams gave a great effort, and the evening was good for our area. Congratulations to both schools and teams, and to the Redhound Varsity Club.

I thought this game was a great idea, great for Corbin and both schools. The only thing lacking was maybe some additional hype and promotion. I didn't hear anything on the radio, didn't see much in the newspaper, and nothing on any websites.

This website needs to list the games and events such as this one. Its a great website for community information and the local economy, tourism information, these message boards, and local arts and events information, but you need to add more local sports info.

It was a fantastic game this year, and a huge crowd as well.

Congrats to the varsity club and all the associtates that pulled it off.

I heard only positive comments from fans, students, and players of both teams.

Keep up the good work Varsity Club.
