Whitley County Judge
The favorite has to be Pat White Jr since he is backed by the Republicans and Whitley is a Republican County. However, if Bob Terrell can do well in South Whitley he may just be the next Judge Executive.

Corbin Mayor
If signs vote then Willard McBurney is in. He probably has the edge in the race against Dr. Perry.

Corbin City Commissioner
I will go with the three incumbants in the order of Joe Shelton, Bruce Farris and Phil Gregory along with Ed Tye.

I agree with the Judges Race.Terrel is coming on strong in south end which looks to make things more interesting.

Mayors Race-I have been living in the City all my life and I dont see how anyone could vote for someone who is trying to Dupe voters into believing he actually has been residing  in the City of Corbin and not Mcneil Corn creek Road between Woodbine and Rockholds.

I believe in Honesty and Integrity and on that note, Mcburney should win this race.

City Commissioners- I think Gregory,Farris,Lynch,Pennington,Close between hagan,shelton,Tye

for fourth place.

Change? Do you mean back to deficit spending and borrowing money to pay bills? Or more booze? Or what?

Bob Terrell is closing fast, think he may just pull this out.

Mcburney will easily win the Mayor's race, Perry does not live in Corbin and everyone knows it.

City Commision: Absolutley up for grabs, the new contenders are coming on strong, this will be close!

what happened with the mayor candidates?

Mayors: Perry did a good job of articulating his thoughts - better than I expected. McBurney was nervous, and it affected his ability to express himself. I know Willard is a good man, and has more ideas and passion than he might have been able to show tonight. I'll probably still vote for McBurney, but Perry surprised me however and might make a good mayor, if he is true to his word and is not in this for members of "The Circle", and can dedicate enough time at the job - two big questions however.

Commissioners: Ferris was the most professional, and expressed himself pretty well. Shelton did OK, but this silly "Shaking his head while another candidate was speaking" stuff was tacky and unprofessional. With that said, he and Ferris are very likely winners, and the other two spots are anyone's guess.

Judge Executive: Terrell was outstanding, as his passion really shows when you hear him speak. He is as professional and knowledgable as there is, and should win by a landslide if people are voting for what is right and best for Whitley County. Pat White might have saved himself a lot of embarrassment by not showing up, but it made him look like a coward also.

I think the only hammer that was given was to Perry tonight. Mcburney stated the issues clearly. The only thing that Truman did was agree with everything Mr.Mcburney was saying. Perry rambled on about things that didnt make a lick of sense.I t was clear for me tonight that when Mr.Perry was asked direct questions he did not have no solid answers only trying to copy what his opponent was saying. It is clear after tonight that Dr. Perry and his so called cohort Dr Joe Shelton are big SUPPORTERS OF ALCOHOL SALES and on Sunday as well.

You say that McBurney stated the issues clearly

yet he would not take a stand on Sunday Sales.

I think you need to tell the TRUTH. DONT TRY TO DISTORT THE TRUTH.Mcburney stated clearly that there was an ordinace in place already Prohibiting the sale of Alcohol on sundays and if this issue comes up it will be studied by he and the Commissioners.

Evidently you and your ALCOHOL GANG do not like his position. Sunday Alcohol sales is currently NOT an issue because the ordinance is already prohibiting sales. The only ISSUE would be if the TRUMAN PERRY AND JOE SHELTON would bring this up in a commisssion meeting and try to overturn the current Ordinance that is in Place. This in my opinion is the only reason THE ALCOHOL GANG  recruited PERRY to run for mayor. And again,I truly believe that they will try and do this if they get in office.AGAIN IT IS EVIDENT FROM LAST NIGHTS MEETING THAT JOE SHELTON AND TRUMAN PERRY ARE BIG SUPPORTERS FOR SUNDAY ALCOHOL SALES. VOTE TO KEEP CORBIN CLEAN.

Thats not the point. Perry is for Sunday Sales. That is no secret. But McBurney straddled the fence on this. People are getting the idea that he does not want to cross the Liquor/Land Investors. If he does not think Sunday Sales is right for Corbin he should have said so at the forum. As for the ordinance already on the books, it only takes two meetings to change it. A first and a second reading. So his argument that an ordinance is already on the books will not fool very many voters. He should take a stand. He is either for or against Sunday Sales. He has been running for this office for over two years and should know by now. This has been tried before with candidates. Trying to fool the Church crowd into voting for them but catering to the Liquor crowd. He should say that he supports Sunday Sales or that he does not. And so should all of the commissioner candidates. A few did but most straddled the fence. McBurney needs to come out in the newspapers and make a bold statement one way or the other.

I have come to the conclusion you and  The Perry gang do not understand city Government too well. The ordinance against SUNDAY ALCOHOL SALES IS PROHIBITED AS I SPEAK!

Mcburney stated that Period.THIS IS NOT AN ISSUE at the current time. And he also stated that if he is elected and this issue was to come up ,he and the commissioners will take a look at this. The only way this could be overturned, and you are correct on this point is if your candidates TRUMAN PERRY,And JOE SHELTON are  elected and re elected. This would certainly give the Alcohol gang the votes they need. And maybe you guys need to be catering to the crowd down in Rocholds where Perry still resides.Does Perry have a TWIN BROTHER that resides at 426 Mcneil Corn Creek Road? You never have answered this.Perry needs to come out with a bold statement in the paper and tell the voters of CORBIN  if he resides here or not.

This issue of continuing to Push for further Alcohol Sales is a Serious issue. If these people are not stopped and voted out you may certainly find Liquor Stores or Package Stores in Corbin. I heard that Shelton & Perry may have already been involved in bringing the Richmond based "Liquor Marts" to Corbin?

Don't know if this is true but certainly is starting to add up as you listen to Shelton & Perry and the Pro-Booze statements they make. These two are apparently running together as a pair.

I would urge the Corbin Citizens to vote down both of these guys and not let them turn this in to Booze-Central! The folks at Central Baptist,Methodist and other churches may wake up and find Liquor Stores right next to them, continue supporting these two and that's what you may get.

The issue of living in the city, I have investigated this as I had no inkling as to where Perry lives, all phone books, Tax records, background checks show Mr. Perry living in Rockholds which is unfortunately OUTSIDE of the city. Google this guy and do your own Background check and you will see the same thing.

That is all the more reason for McBurney to take a stand against Sunday Sales. He should just say that Corbin does not need Sunday Sales and that he will not vote for it. Two Commissioner candidates did. He should too. When you watch the forum on TV you will see just how weak he looked on the issue.

I have been reading all of your arguments on Sunady sales.First of all there is no issue on Sunday alcohol sales because it is already prohibited. The  last person that replied keeps trying to make this an issue when it is not.VERY CLEAVER.The only way this could be an issue if there were enpough pro-Alcohol candidates that would support this.In my opinion I believe this is  why Mr. Shelton is publicly supporting MR.Perry for Mayor.I believe this is a big mistake by Shelton in getting involved in other races and will hurt him. But this is his right to do so.

I am not making an argument for Sunday Sales but Sunday Sales is an issue in this race. So far only two Commissioner candidates have said they will not vote for it. The rest would probably either make the motion to amend the alcohol ordinance to allow Sunday Sales or just sit there and vote yes. The issue will come up. It will only take a three to two vote. I am not against McBurney. I think that he is a good man. But McBurney needs to show a little iron here. He should come out one way or the other instead of trying to make the voters think that Sunday Sales is not an issue. Voters are not that stupid. If he is afraid to take a stand now then what will he be like when he gets in office.

Apparently you have not paid attention to what the poster is saying, the laws and the Ordinance is already active, there are NO Sunday sales of alcohol at this time in Corbin.

The poster is right, your trying to MAKE this an issue, we all know where Shelton & Perry stand as the were instrumnental in creating the current environment we now have. The same argument could be used on a dozen other points such as -----Abortion, Same Sex Marriage, Current Tax Laws that are in place, we can go on and on but the current law of the land is in place regardless if you agree or disagree.

The FACT is the LAW is in place and this is a non-debatable point. Again you can debate ALL of the above I just listed but the laws are still in place, if this issue does come up, Mr Mcburney CLEARLY has told you this, then the People of Corbin will make the decision, not the city Commission & Mayor.

That is called Democracy! This issue should and must be the right of the people to decide!

That is not how it is done. Five people will make the decision. The Mayor and four Commissioners. And the issue will come up. All it will take is one Commissioner to make a motion and another one to second the motion. Then it will be time for a vote. If McBurney is the Mayor he can either vote Yes, vote No, or abstain from voting. Why not tell us now where he stands?

The reference to Booze Brothers is inappropriate and is an insult to Dr. Perry and Commissioner Shelton.

If this is all it takes then why has Shelton not already done this, is he not a current commisioner, does he not have the one vote you speak of? He says he is for Sunday sales, what is keeping the current admin from doing this?

This issue should be settled by the people and nOT the City Coomission, and you do NOT know if this issue will arise as the current commission may completley be changed out, your cleverly trying to speculate an issue. As you say it takes a motion and a second, you may or may not get this based off of a new commission.

You should be more concerned about the current law that is already in place as you can now freely drink six out of seven days, how much more do you need?? That's over 90% of your week, are you also advocating the package Stores like Shelton & Perry. You should be glad Mcburney has not come out in FAVOR of Sunday sales, at least that is better than what Perry & Shelton are advocating.

Wonder where Bob Terrell stands on this issue as Corbin is a part of Whitley County? Just a thought.

ONE POSTER SAID THAT MCBURNEY HAMMERED PERRY. WHAT DEBATE WERE YOU AT. I THINK EVERYONE KNOWS SUNDAY SALES WILL BE AN ISSUE FOR THE NEW COMMISSION AND MAYOR, BUT THERE ARE OTHER ISSUES FACING THE CITY, LOSING POLICEMAN TO OTHER CITIES BECAUSE OF LOW PAY, DOWNTOWN REVITALAZATION, RECREATION, NEW SIDEWALKS, BETTER PAY FOR CITY EMPLOYEES, BETTER ROADS, OLD HOSPITAL SITE, NEW CIVIC CENTER, INDUSTRY, NEW EQUIPMENT FOR CITY EMPLOYEES TO USE. THESW ARE SOME OF THE MAJOR ISSUES THAT NEED TO BE ADDRESS. I AGREE WITH THE POSTER ON NAMING DR PERRY AND P.A. JOE SHELTON AS THE BOOZE BROTHERS IS VERY RUDE. DO YOU KNOW THEM PERONALLY. ALSO I THINK MR. TERRELL WOULD ANSEW YOU ON THE ALCOHOL ISSUE HONESTLY, BUT HE WILL BE WORRING ABOUT HE ISSUES THAT FACE HIM SHOULD HE GET ELECTED... I THINK HE HAS A GREAT CHANCE... WE SHOULD NOT CONDEMN PEOPLE FOR AT LEAST ANSWERING  TRUTHFULLY... INSTEAD OF PEOPLE DANCING AROUND ISSUES....

I would like to get your opinion on this! IS IT OKAY FOR MR. TERRELL TO REFER TO PAT WHITE JR AS A PUPPET in every newspaper article he runs.Yet PERRY and Shelton are making pro-BOOZE statements to the voters of CORBIN. Perry and Shelton have teamed up as a pair to make this one of the biggest issues in the city. DO you think the puppet slogan is rude too! {You know the old saying if the shoe fits wear it.}
