UK football and basketball

It is good to see Kentucky going to a bowl game this year.  This year's team had a spirit that would not give up and it was a big improvement in the program.  They have some very good players for the future.

How do you think the UK basketball team will do this year? They haven't looked very good at all these first several games.

I hope UK can win the Music Bowl Game. Brooks has had a very good year. I am glad he didn't take the job in Arizona. I believe he will do very well these next few years. He is now doing a fine job recruiting talented players. Good luck in Nashville!

It was great to see UK's basketball team beat U of L in Louisville. Kentucky has some good young players and by SEC Tournament time I believe they will have a very good team. Good luck to the football Wildcats in Nashville!

I think we are all over joyed to see the Football Team make it to a Bowl Game! Nice to finally see some results up there in Lexington. Rich Brooks is making right at 1 Million a year and the Tax Payers in the State Fund ALL State Unv. which makes Mr. Brooks one of our Employee's.

He's done well this year but our Expectations for one of the Nations Largest Schools must be Higher than one Bowl Game every seven years. If Mr. Brooks can string together a few more seasone like this one he just may turn the Corner, I actually think the Guy on the Hotseat come march will be Tubby Smith.

This Basketball Team will have a VERY tough time on the Road in the SEC this year, I think the calls for tubby to move on will be loud once he crashes and goes no where in this years NCAA Tourney, and if he does not make it to the Big Dance, hold on!

How old is Brooks?

He's proven that if you have someone who knows what they're doing, and leave him alone, they will get results. I think he'll retire before they get rid of him.

It would be interesting to see who HE thinks should follow him.

The Wildcats open in the NCAA Tournament Friday night against Villanova. I hope they can make a good showing.
They played their hearts out in that tough loss in the second round of the SEC. I believe Tubby Smith will be back next year and most of the top coaches think it would be ridiculous to fire him now.

Coach Brooks is also a good person and a solid coach. The Wildcats football team came a long way this year and I hope they will continue to improve next season. I like the way Coach Brooks recruits our good Kentucky high school players .

Agreed on Coach Brooks, his job is much harder from a Building Stand Point than Coach Smith.

Smith had a very good situation when he arrived, unfortunatley the B-Ball Program is losing it's luster and Average and C-Grade performance seems to be what folks are getting use to.

Think Coach Smith will return next year but fans are not going to put up with much more like this, one more year of this an something has to give.

Coach Smith's teams play some good defense but they are poor on offense. Recently Morris has played very well but in the last game when the game was on the line they didn't get the ball inside to him.

Coach Smith had better get a strong, young, offensive expert as an assistant. Kentucky does not have a half court game. Meeks is going to be a great player fefore he gets out of UK. Next year with Morris, Bradley, and Crawford as Seniors they should be strong. But Morris has to show up each week with a big game, not just once in a while. And they seem to let some very good Kentucky High school players get away to other schools.

Coach Smith is a very good person, but he must get the ship turned around or next year may be his last.

Cats Stink!!! What has happened to the Basketball Program??? We can not even play good teams close anymore much less win

I would hope Tubby walks away before it gets worse, would hate to see him get fired but if he stays around much longer it may happen.

The Talent level in today's game was really sad, we not even in the same League anymore with the Elite Teams in the nation.

I believe it would be a mistake for Kentucky to fire or push Coach Smith out of his job. Morris is now looking at turning pro at the end of this season and his decision will likely be determined by the action UK takes with coach Smith.

Since Coach Smith has been at Kentucky they have had a clean program. He is a hard working coach and has had some very good success, except for the last couple of years.

If people think recruiting has not been good the last couple of years, if UK fires Coach Smith it will get much worse. He has always been respected by his players and his peers. I believe he should be given two more years to get the program much stronger. The criticism UK fans have given him the last couple of years have turned many people across the country against the UK program.

I believe Coach Smith should get a young coach that has good offense knowledge, is a good recruiter with teaching ability, and start grooming him to someday be ready to step in as Kentucky's head coach. I promise you, if this is not handled with care, Kentucky will find it even harder to recruit. There is much more parity in college athletics today. Teams that are not well known can suddenly make a strong run at finishing high.

Coach Smity is a good man with a good values. I believe he should stay.

It looks like things have worked out well for former Wildcat coach Tubby Smith. I hope he does a very good job in Minnesota. And Kentucky has gotten a very promising young coach who has turned two straight programs around. Friends in the Southwest have told me he will do a great job for the Wildcats.

He should be an outstanding coach for many years in the future if he does not burnout under all the UK fan pressure.

Kentucky's new basketball coach landed an excellent player from Michigan who is rated as an outstanding and accurate outside markeman. And it looks like they hired a very good coach for the Lady Wildcats. Good luck to the Wildcats.

Coach Gillespie is doing a fine recruiting job and he looks like a real winner with his enthusiasm and hard work. I believe we have some good years coming up as he takes charge.

UK and other college athletic tickets go up every year. This is ridiculous. Tuition goes up along with the ticket prices.  I am a UK fan but college sports have become nothing but a big business and students and their families have to pay more and more money to get an education.

Based on what I have been reading and a few friends in Lexinton it looks like UK will have more depth this season. I hope Coach Brooks and his team have a very good year. They have been working hard and last year they had a big improvement.

When Coach Roy Kidd was at Eastern I would have pulled for him to beat UK.
Now that he is no longer coaching I am not as big a fan of EKU. I like Coach Brooks and his staff and I hope they have a great year.

Kentucky has a very tough schedule but they have recruited very well the last few years and I wish them the very best.  I don't believe EKU has much to
HOPE for this year.

Kentucky and Louisville have high scoring offenses. Do you think Kentucky has much of a chance to win this year? It should be a more exciting game this year.

Wasn't that a great game last night? The Commonwealth of Kentucky has two outstanding football teams this season, and two All American Quarterbacks.

That was the first time in 30 years that Kentucky has beaten a top 10 rated team and it went right down to the wire. The players of both teams gave a great effort and congratulations, Coach Brooks and the Wildcats!

It was one of the best games I have ever seen.(TV or in person)  Both teams played great offense. Kentucky made the big stop when they had to, but UL came close at the end.

Kentucky is in the top 25 for the first time in 30 years! Brooks has turned out to be an excellent coach. When he came here Kentucky was being punished from the Mumme days and Brooks has endured the pressure and has Kentucky's football program back to a respectable position.

It is a great weekend for the BIG BLUE!  They can come from behind to win and their quarterback should be All American this season.

It's great to have a quarterback who breaks the NCAA record for the most consecutive passes thrown without an interception. This looks like a fun football season for the BIG BLUE.

They have great receivers, a good running game, and they keep their cool when they are behind. GO WILDCATS!
