Corbin Speedway and London Dragstrip

Yes, we even have racing here and around corbin.

Corbin speedway, located about 5 miles or so outside of corbin on hwy 25, right next to the road, is an 1/8th mile ( i believe) paved oval track. They run late model cars, a local "street class" ( a camaro class) small trucks, chevetts, a rookie race, and sometimes, some legends cars. They start at 630pm on saturday nights, and continues on into the evening. The feature races start around 730 or 8pm. They have good concessions, and very good security. It's a fun event. You can sit in the stands, or walk the pits. Wear comfortable clothes. The seating is a little hard, (barn lumber) so bring a cushion.

London Dragway- Located a few miles outside of london, on hwy 80. Last year, the sign was ran over and not replaced for some time to point you to the track, but, they say they've fixed it. It's a very nice track, 1/8th mile I think, and they run all classes. You can sit in the stands, or buy a pit pass. I recommend both. Many locals, and lately, more out of town cars are showing up. A very fun evening for the drag race fan. Some really nice cars show up every week.

I know, it's a london event, but, race fans don't care.

If you haven't been to Corbin Speedway, you should give it a try.

Do you realize that two to three thousand, yes thousand, people show up each saturday night here.  There is no other event that has that type of draw each week. I mean each week, for one day. Not seven days, but one day.

And the racing is very competitive as well.

Give it a shot. You'll love it.

The Corbin Speedway was  recently used as the backdrop for filming a CMT video. I don't recall the artist, but, Corbin will get it's name on the TV soon.

I'm amazed this facility isn't promoted more by our tourism committee.

Thanks to those of you who have posted on this subject. This is a great idea. There are millions of auto racing fans and many are in the Southeast part of our country.

Look what has happened in Bristol, Virginia in recent year. Our Corbin and Williamsburg Tourism Commissions should meet with the owner of the Speedway and see how they could work together to feature several big races each year. Over the next years these races could draw a lot of people. This is Economic Development and Tourism brought together for our area.

This is a great idea.

The facility is relocating to London after seasons end

Relocating, you mean the owners, or are they building a new track in London.

Where did you get your info if you don't mind.
