THE SURGE in methadone abuse appears linked to several factors, including the growing abuse of heroin and OxyContin, a powerfully addictive prescription painkiller. Health and law enforcement officials are reporting that some of these addicts are turning to methadone when they cannot get the other drugs.
AT THE SAME TIME METHADONE HAS BECOME MORE AVAILABLE BECAUSE LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS HAVE BEEN CRACKING DOWN ON OXYCONTIN,AND MORE METHADONE CLINICS HAVE SPRUNG UP TO TREAT THE GROWING NUMBER OF HEROIN ADDICTS.
KIDS ARE BUYING METHADONE ON THE STREET AND THE PRICE IS CHEAP 80 MILLIGRAMS FOR $20 TO $30, WHICH IS A LOT CHEAPER THAN A HEROIN OR OXYCONTIN HABIT. THE METHADONE IS GETTING DIVERTED TO THE STREET BECAUSE THE PATIENTS ARE GIVEN DOSES TO TAKE HOME AND THE SELL IT FOR OTHER REASONS AND THE TAXPAYER IS PAYING FOR THIS.
WAKE UP CORBIN NAIVE USERS MIGHT BE KIDS WHO ARE JUST AT A PARTY AND SOMEONE WILL GIVE THEM METHADONE AND THEY MIGHT MIX IT WITH A DRINK OR SOME OTHER DRUG. THEY TAKE IT THINKING IT'S JUST LIKE ANY OTHER DRUG AND WILL GIVE THEM A BUZZ BUT THE WILL END UP EITHER DEAD OR DEEPLY UNCONSCIOUS BECAUSE METHADONES DELAYED NARCOTIC EFFECT AND IT'S LACK OF A POTENT HIGH ARE THE REASONS THE DRUG IS SO DANGEROUS. BY THE TIME THE PERSON HAS ACTUALLY OVERDOSED USUALLY NO ONE IS WITH THEM TO SEE WHAT'S HAPPENING AND WITHOUT HELP THEY DIE.
This is the building just across the bridge, located on the other side of the road from Wallens garage.
I believe you mentioned in another post on another thread about annexing this. It would be nice, but as you know we can't even annex our own city owned water treatment plant located in laurel county, just down the road from this clinic.
The parking lot sure is packed early in the morning when I go to work.

I wonder if Danny Walden has any idea how many people goes there?
Has there been any incidents that can be traced back to anyone coming from this clinic. I haven't heard of any. I just wish we could have recruited it to the city limits, it would have been a great tax boost to the city.
Did you say Middlesboro ran them out of their city?
