Fletcher has been good to Corbin. If he loses we will be abandoned for another 40 years like we were during the 70's, 80's, and 90's.

You are funny with your "You stink, We don't" empty comments. You never answer these questions, because you can't.

How has Fletcher been good to Corbin? A couple of you keep saying this, but you don't give any actual facts.

Fact is Fletcher has done very little for Corbin, and Nighbert has done even less. All of Nighbert's Transportation funding for roadwork has gone to Williamsburg, shutting out Corbin.

You keep saying Fletcher has done all this stuff... what has he done?

You keep saying the Dems never do anything, and many of us keep telling you what they have done - far, far more than Fletcher and his gang.

State some facts to back up your statements.

Excellent comments. They have no specifics. Most of the good things that have happened in this area for many years was because of Democrats.

I simply like Fletcher and the Repubican party. I have nothing personal against you. Lighten up. My family we continue do prosper whether we have a Republican or Dem Administration because we work hard and take of ourselves.

In most parts of Kentucky the Republicans don't want Fletcher to come in to campaign. They want to stay away from him. They want Fletcher to lose and get out of their hair. That is why Fletcher and his group stay down in this area. This is the only area that wants him to come in to campaign.

Have you heard McConnell do much for him? What about Bunning? What about David Williams?
They are all worried that this administration has set the Republicans back for many years. Here you can talk about how great he is but across the rest of the state people know the truth.

This has been one of the worst administrations in our history.

It is strange that none of the leading Republicans are speaking out for him, and he seems to campaign only down in this area. Ann Northrup the former Republican Congresswomen who ran against him in the Republican primary has not said one word in his support. His Lt. Governor has fallen out with him. Republican Rep. Nunn, son of the late Republican Governor Louie Nunn, has endorsed Beshear.

And in the Herald Leader it told about a large number of Fletcher's contributors in the 2003 election have made contributions to Beshear.

Our area is the only one that will be solid for Fletcher and that will make us really look dumb and standing all alone.

Every time I look at our local papers there is something about Fletcher being in the Tri-County area. He has evidently given up on the rest of Kentucky. When the Beashear Administration gets in office they are going to have a big victory across Kentucky and the numbers will once again tell them the Tri-County area doesn't understand the failure of the Fletcher administration.

We are going to stick out like a sore thumb with the rest of Kentucky as they reject this failed administration and once again our area goes big Republican.

His group also is aware that the Corbin Chamber snubbed him and opened their arms to several Republicans to speak at their monthly luncheons, including Fletcher. No invitation was sent to Beshear or Mongiardo. Even the Democrat candidate for Secretary of State, Bruce Hendrickson from Pineville was not invited to speak. It is a one way, unequal street in our area and many Republicans cry that the Democrats will ignore them in this area. The Democrats have given this area much more than we deserve. Beshear said in his last debate that he will emphasize economic growth and education in Eastern Kentucky. He said our area is prepared for some excellent growth. Beshear is the type of man who wants to help all Kentuckians, not just the privileged few. Let's make a good showing for our area in helping elect Steve Beshear and Dan Mongiardo.

Today's News Journal Editorial made Gov. Fletcher appear as the greates Governor in our history!

A Governor who pardoned his conspiring staff before they even faced trial.

A Governor who was one of the conspirators.

A Governor who has promised, promised, promised about tearing down the old Hospital. He promised again but the money still isn't here.

A Governor who can't even get along with the man he selected to be his Lt. Governor.

Across Kentucky most Republicans don't want Fletcher to come to campaign in their area. That is why he is here constantly. Seven times in 21 days.

The News Journal is a voice for the Republican Party. When the Chamber of Commerce invited three Republcan Candidates to three different Chamber luncheons to make partisan political speeches and did not invite Steve Beshear or any Democratic candidates. The News Jounal and the Times Tribune should have questioned this practice of bias and inequality.

I also believe the editorial in todays News Journal will cause many Republicans to vote for Beshear. We have some very good Republicans who are fed up with the mess we are in and the way facts are distorted by the News Journal.

I stand corrected from a previous post. I asked someone to post what Fletcher has done other than money for the old hospital demolition which we hadn't received yet, and as I read in today's paper, that will not happen until 2008 at the earliest because of "Bureaucratic Red Tape". They have the money, but they don't.

Whatever.

I also read Fletcher announced that the $3 billion coal-to-synthetic natural gas facility will be built not in Corbin or the Tri-county area, but on a site in one of five Western Kentucky counties: Henderson, Muhlenberg, Ohio, Union or Webster counties.

Its a good thing Fletcher has done so much for Corbin. If he did any less it would be less than nothing.

You are right. Fletcher has done a good job. I think the people of Kentucky will put him back into office.

I read that too. The demolition will be delayed until 2008 according to an article in the News Journal.

According to Don Estep's column yesterday, Governor Fletcher has an incredible amount of good for Corbin, but like many of these posts, he doesn't say what.

Mr. Estep, what has Governor Fletcher done for Corbin? Somebody out there please state, besides the hospital demolition that now might not happen, what has Governor Fletcher done for Corbin?

I agree. Don Estep has a keen insight for this area. Most people that have followed Corbin and Whitley County over the past four years would know what has been done. There is no reason to argue with you about it since by reading your posts it is apparent that you are a hard core democrat and a devout board family follower. Like someone said earlier, don't count on your cabinet appointments just yet.

Another non-answer, as I expected. Why can't you answer a simple question? If he has done so much for Corbin the past three years, what is it he has done for Corbin? You say you don't want to argue, because you can't. You can't say what he has done because he has done nothing. As far as being a hard core democrat, I voted for Reagan twice, Bush Sr. twice, and always vote for the person, not the party, unlike you it sounds. As far as this devote board family follower, you make no sense.

Just answer the question instead of beating around the bush and changing the subject.

What has Fletcher done for Corbin?

I am not on either side except I read some of the post on this board. I saw this and thought maybe I have a few thing that fletcher has done. One he gave the money for Expo Center, did he not? Second, he gave the money for the First phase of Demolition of old Hospital that has been an eye sore for 20 years, did he not? Third, he hired a lot of our area people to work at state level, did he not? Fourth he has given money for our road, did he not? Fifth, he has given other grants for this area, did he not?

Well, you could say that it was a good thing that he hired a lot of our area people to work at the state level. The unfortunate thing is that when Fletcher loses, they will be coming back.

Why is it a bad thing they are coming back. What is the next governor going to kick them out. Oh another hiring scandal?

No, Fletcher did not give the money for the Expo Center, the Expo center was approved by Patton and all of the money received this far was approved by the Patton administration. Same with the Corbin Technology Center, all Patton funding.

Fletcher brought a big check recently for the Hospital demolition but if you read yeaterday's paper that is now on hold, we haven't received a penny.

He hired two Corbin people that I know of and several Williamsburg people, but what has that done for Corbin? No money, no projects, no improved roads - all going to Williamsburg or London/Laurel County.

No grants that I'm aware of, but you have specifics, would like to hear them.

What road money? All of the road work is going to Williamsburg and their new "state-of-the-art" exit, I believe it will be Exit 11. Williamsburg needs a third exit about as much as they need an NHL franchise.

So far for Corbin, as I see it, Patton about $20-25 million, Fletcher about $2 million

I believe David Williams might have the one that fought for and procured the money for the utilities expansion, about $700,000 I believe, so the $2 Million Fletcher figure might be high, should be more like $1.3 million.

If Beshear wins the governor's race will Bob Terrell Sr. be the Bill Nighbert for this area?

Not sure exactly what you mean by that comment. I have a hard time trying to equate Bill Nighbert with Bob Terrell, Sr.

Mr. Terrell certainly deserves to be Brashear's point man in Whitley County or even recieve a Cabinet appointment if the Democrat wins. Terrell has worked hard for his man.

He would be good for handing out some checks to this area.

Nighbert has done that for the last four years.

        .......

        .......

That is if Beshear writes any checks for this area.

I'ts only been 3+ years, and you've already forgotton who our Governor was? Yes, the Patton who scored Corbin both the Expo Center and the Technology Center.

Awaiting your next clever, intelligent, fact-filled response.
