RE: Corbin Soccer

It's a team game, you don't blame one kid for a loss.    Maybe she could have stopped 1 or 2 of them, I'm not sure, the girl from North Laurel had very good placement on all three,  ultimately she was the reason North Laurel won.   I hope that North Laurel wins the region and will likely reach the finals anyway.

All tournament teams are always very subjective, Abby Baylor certainly deserved to be on the team as everyone knows how good of a player she is.

Correct. The keeper is simply "the last line of defense" and there are 10 girls in front of her that need to help. There was no "wall" in front of the NL striker. The NL striker was a very good player and the wall may not have changed the outcome, but it beats standing & watching.

The poster prior to Kramer ... please keep in mind these are young people playing for the fun of the sport. They get paid zippo, thus, unless you're their parent or coach, negative or derogatory comments are bush league in my opinion.

The Corbin boy's team won the district championship last night by beating South Laurel 2-1.   They will be hosting the regional tournament starting Monday at Campbell Field with the pairings still not set, Corbin will either play Monday or Wednesday.   Everyone needs to get out and support the team as they try to win their first regional championship next week.

What was bush league is the way Corbin defended those kicks and you basically just said that was the problem. Yet some people believe Steely should be coach of the year. What a joke. You are right, there were other defenders, but as a goalie, you are the one that takes the job of stopping the other team when they get to that point.

A little off subject here, but I have a question and proposal for the soccer group.

I know the soccer boosters are very proactive in supporting their teams, and that is great. I look with awe during nibroc how your booster club runs their concession stand downtown. Very impressive.

I just read a post on the tourism thread, about he High Shool Rodeo from a few weeks ago. There were no concessions. Regardless of the issue of why, would the Soccer boosters be interested in running the concessions for that event? It would be 3 days long, and there is a great crowd all three days.

I was there two of the three days, and I heard many comments about the lack of concessions available. Regardless of the comments from that thread, I think it would be a money maker for any group or club if they wanted to try it.

Any comments from the Soccer bunch?

The Redhounds will face Pikeville, who has a record of 13-2, Wednesday at 8:00 in the regional semifinals.   The community needs to come out and check this game out and support the boys from Corbin.

Corbin defeated Pikeville 5-0 and now will play South Laurel for the regional championship Saturday night.    There was a very good crowd at last night's game with a good student turnout, they will need all the support the community can give them Saturday night starting at 7:00.

Corbin won the school's first regional title in soccer Saturday night beating South Laurel 3-0 to advance to the state tournament.   They play tonight at Danville in the state sub-sectional game against a very good Danville team.    The winner of this match will play the winner of Lexington Catholic and Henry Clay with a berth in the final four on the line.

The team had a very fine season. Thanks to the coaches, players, supporters, and families for a great year.
