I never said anything about the Tourism Chairman, Economic Development Director, any of the Corbin commissioners or anyone in city government. I don't even know the Tourism Director or Economic Development director personally, and I like all of the commissioners. I wasn't talking about any of them in particular, I'm talking about people exactly like you and the replys like yours on this board, and this reply of yours proves my point.

UK Wildcat Fan, if you have no problem with the Tourism Chairman, Economic Development Director and the Corbin commissioners and anyone in city government, why would you even care what an anonymous poster on this board thinks?

It is good to know that you endorse the Tourism Chairman, Economic Development Director and the Corbin commissioners. If words of this gets to them I am sure they will be greatly encouraged.

How long have you had these problems with selective memory?

So, according to your reply to my post that you selectively edited, if I question some of the anonymous posts on this site, that means I'm supposed to have problems with the Tourism Chairman, Economic Development Director, the Corbin commissioners and anyone in city government? Why only this select group of people? Why not the local judges, police chief, school board, magistrates, congressmen, senators, utility board, industrial board or others?

You are saying these people you mention are the ones that put the annonymous messages I am questioning on here? That seems to be what your message indicates.

As far as your comment that you are glad to know that I endorse the Tourism Chairman, Economic Development Director and the Corbin commissioners, I see you play this game of editing people's comments in your replies and putting words in their mouths. I'm sure these folks will breath easier knowing you're happy with the words you put in my mouth. I'm sure in reality they know you are really as big a baffoon as you show yourself to be on this board.

You show your hand with your sadly written replies.

Cheers.

I doubt that the poster was selectively editing, as you say, but probably just quoting the part of your post that they wanted to comment on, much like I have done above. I hate it when someone quotes a mile long post that usually says nothing, like yours often do. Nevertheless, I too am glad that you endorse the Tourism Chairman, Economic Development Director and the Corbin commissioners. With all of the pounding that Don Estep and Bruce Carpenter take on this board, I am sure that they appreciate your words of support. Trouble is, I doubt that either of them ever look at the board.

I would bet that Carpenter reads it, and reads it daily. Estep, I would say not, however others in his circle tell him about what is said. I say this with confidence based on what others have told me.

It's a shame that this thread got out of hand from someone having a legit complaint about a problem at nibroc, and has gotten to this.

It is because so many of you are enamored with Don Estep and Bruce Carpenter. I don't know if it is jealosy or what but you find it impossible to leave these men alone. Meanwhile the two of them just continue to go about their business for the good of Corbin and its citizens.

Previous poster, you're either related to one or both, close friends with one or both, or work for one or both.

Some day, you'll be able to stand back and see what many of us are talking about. But first, you'll have to get out of that glass house you live and work in.

Thanks for the advise but I think you are the one who needs some help. Maybe you can get a patch or something to help you get off of your Estep and Carpenter addiction. Try your best to go Estep and Carpenter free. Just take one day at a time. Post about something else and before long you will be able to get them off your mind. Good luck.

FYI, one problem at nibroc is great when you have a 4 event with that many people. You definitely can't please everyone. Also I really wonder if it was an out of towner who posted or a Corbin person looking to make a dig on a great event. Jealousy in Corbin is unreal these days. I am so sorry for those so Jealous of such a great event. Try getting on the winning side of things. Its great feeling. Carpenter and the Chamber do a great job for Corbin.

Nibroc is a great event run exceptionally well. Survey the school kids and see how many love it.

Those last two posters should market those Estep and Carpenter T-shirts and hats their wearing, I'm sure you'd sell at least 6.

I look at them like Ernie Fletcher, the duped us into thinking they're working for "us", then slid into their positions, and it'll just take awhile to get them out. You both need to get out of the house once in awhile.

NIBROC is a fine event. But even good things can be made better. We have great local talent. I believe we should use more local talent. I'm not saying don't bring any groups in but why not only bring in one "name group". The Doctor's music group is one of the best I have heard, and they would be a great feature one night.

I believe the sponsors do deserve reserve seating but it does send a message to the many people who come that there are two classes of attendees. The haves and the have nots. When the new Exposition Center is completed this problem can be overcome with a big Saturday night concert.

And when people from out of town visit us and give us a suggestion to improve we should listen and see if we can do better. People who won't accept suggestions to do things better will always run with the pack instead of leading it.

Listen I think they got the suggestion. I feel they are very open. They sent around questionaires to fill out on how to make nibroc better. you must not be a chamber member.
Make concrete suggestions and lets leave the issues with Don and Bruce out of it. Yes they do have a lot of supporters or such events like the Rodeo etc would fail. Sorry you keep bringing up old stuff. Move on to new things. Nibroc was in August, its November. I think they are still taking suggestion on how to improve. Please submit.

They have proven they don't listen to suggestions, they just get defensive and start insulting anyone that has an idea that is not theirs. Someone earlier said to ask school kids about nibroc, most high schoolers you talk to think its a joke.

I believe you are wrong at least partially. Your response is very typical of a person who does not want suggestions or opposing opinions.

I think nibroc is great the way it is. I have volunteered to help with this festival for many years and I can tell you that everyone I work with tries to make outsiders feel welcome no matter where they are from, even williamsburg.

Even Williamsburg? That is an insult to the people of Williamsburg. Your attitude is awful. Do you also say "even London"?  Do you say even "Woodbine"? That is why many people believe Corbin has a lot of snobs. And if you think NIBROC is perfect, you are wrong.  Old Fashioned Days in Williamsburg features local talent and local shops. NIBROC is a carnival with name performers from many years ago who still cost a lot of money.  EVEN WILLIAMSBURG?

Let me tell you, W'burg's Old Fashion Days is what NIBROC used to be, and I wish it went back to that. I got to the W'burg OFD every year, and it's great.

And, did you notice, that this year, the W'burg boosters club had a booth set up at nibroc, and a former corbin lady redhound who is now a coach down there, convinced them to set up in corbin, and try to raise money, and THEY DID. She said people were very open and friendly, as she thought they would be, and supported their booth.

Great idea! You will get a lot of support to turn a growing festival like NIBROC into a small event like trading days. Is that part of the "let's not accept mediocrity" attitude I see so much of on this board?

Pathetic

DEAR PATHETIC,
YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO YOUR OPINION BUT SO DOES THE POSTER BEFORE YOURS. SOME OF US WOULD LIKE TO SEE MORE LOCAL TALENT AND LESS CARNIVAL AND MORE LOCAL MERCHANTS INPUT.

Good thought, but, it's never happened, the nibroc committee asking anyones opinion of anything. I just wonder where all that $25k that Estep gave Carpenter went. Even the most adamant Estep supporters will have to agree there should have been an accounting of where the money went.

It probably just got spent on Nibroc expenses.

NIBROC was really good this year.

So was Old Fashioned Days too.
