Higher Education!!! Corbin area colleges

Corbin is very lucky as it has many higher education offerings in and around Corbin.

Many parents, and young adults alike, do not want to jump ship and leave the nest the first year after high school, and Corbin and the surrounding areas offer the ability to begin your higher education without leaving home. It is also a great benefit for those older students wanting to contiune their education later in life, or start a new venture as well.

Although not an entirely a direct Corbin benefit except for EKU, sometimes you must give accolades to our surrounding towns and their benfits they offer for all of us.  Living in Corbin, it could be the hub for your higher education needs, as Corbin is just 20 mintues or less to any of the five below listed schools.  The other schools have their approximate driving times listed.

Eastern Kentucky University has a full campus in Corbin, located just off he bypass.  It offers a full line of classes, although you need to check the class offerings each semester, as they change based on needs of the students.

University of the Cumberlands, formerly Cumberland College, located in Williamsburg, just 15 minutes south of Corbin, is another outstanding school, catering to the local area as well. http://ucumberlands.edu/

Somerset Community College, london kentucky campus.  A division of the University of Kentucky Community College System, it has a tremendous campus located in london.  http://www.somerset.kctcs.edu/departments/publicrelations.htm

And, should you want to drive even further, maybe once or twice a week, or so, there is;

The University of Kentucky, Lexington, Kentucky.  About 1.5 to 2 hr drive to the campus downtown.

Lexington Community College, in Lexington, Kentucky.  They have several satellite campus in the lexington area, still 1.5 to 2 hr drive to the campus.

University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Tennessee.  Again, about 1.5 to 2 hour drive to the main campus. Allow for more time for traffic in the early evenings however.

Lincoln Memorial University, Harrogate, Tennessee. Another 1.5 to 2hr drive.
