Ernie just lost 6 votes,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Myself, my wife, my two adult children, and their two spouses are republicans.   WE do not like Fletchers stand on casino gambling, and we WILL NOT vote for him next election because of it.

The lottery, when the voters brought it in, hasn't destroyed us, and it won't.

The horse racing OTB program didn't destroy us, and it won't.

And, this won't either.

The governors politics and lack of caring for his citizens, it CAN destroy us.

So, Ernie, you're now 6 votes short on the republican side.

First, Steve Beshear wants the people to have a chance to vote. That is a democracy.

Second, as Church goers had you rather have a Governor who foregives wrongdoing such as firing, lieing, and intimating employees.....and giving a bag full of pardons to those who should have been tried for their offenses or a Governor who believes the people should get to vote on key issues?

Third, this is a corrupt administration that has taken gobs of money from the lobby groups in return for contracts.

I may not agree with everything Beshear may support, but our Kentucky Government is an embarrassment to  the people of this great Commonwealth.

No one is saying that people cannot vote. Vote for whoever you want.  But if gambling is the best Steve B can do then we are in trouble if he wins.

He pushed it on the poor people.  They are the ones who play with hope of getting somewhere.

It will be the poor who gamble, not the rich and educated like Stevie B. and his cronies. Gambling is a tax on the poor. The Dems always try to keep the poor down.

You must be kidding. The Republican party is the defender of the rich and the priviliged. Who cares about those who have no power and influence? The Democratic Party. While our troops are fighting, dying and being maimed in a religious fanatic civil war, the wealthiest people got a tax cut.

When our government pardons crooks why you are not standing up for our justice system?

Have you heard of Abramhoff? This powerful lobby leader paid off congressmen and others to protect gambling on Indian Reservations. He is in prison.

Who is it that fights every time against raising the minimum wage? The Republican Party. They don't give a hoot about the middle and lower income people in our country. I want honest leaders who talk direct to the people instead of trying to deceive us. If you want to keep cronie, special control politics that favors only a few of our people, then you can vote Republican. If you want leaders who care about the people, vote Democratic for Beshear-Mongiardo.

I know that you are passionate about your Dem party. However, everything you say is subjective.  The plan fact is the Dems are supporting gambling. which hurts the poor. This cannot be disputed

The problem that the Dem Party has is it does not trust or really like the American people . It is paternalistic.  The billions of dollars they have wasted on social programs has destroyed families not helped them.

The Democratic Party does trust the people, and that is why they want the people to have the right to vote on the Casino issue.

The Republican Party is a party of privilege. It is not the party of the working people and never has been.  Bush-Cheney-Rumsfeld-Wolfowitz-Abramoff-Libby-Rove-Cunningham-Gonzales-Delay-Fletcher-Nighbert-and I could go on and on. The Republican party skews the system to help their cronies. This is true in Washington, DC, Frankfort, Whitley County.

Which party led our nation to the greatest deficit in our history? Right, the Republican Party. Which party got us into a war in which they were not prepared to cope with all the challenges such as how much it would really cost, how long it would last, how many of our troops would be killed and injured, how many nations that used to love us would begin to hate us, and how many lies and corruption we would experienc?

They don't have any idea how to tell the truth.  It is time for a change in Frankfort and in Washington, DC.  People in this area are not used to hearing the truth.

For 30 years the Dem party controlled the govenorship in Ky. where did that get us- the last place in almost everything category.  How can you defend the Dems when they have kept Ky down for so long?  You can be passionate about your  party but at least be honest.

And about the minimum wage......At my business, most of my employees are high school kids. I pay minimum wage to 95% of them.  With the increase, I've had to cut alot of kids hours down.  It's either that, or raise our prices.  If I raise my prices, lower income families who'd like a night out are hurt the worst.  Meanwhile, alot of the kids who work for me are able to upgrade their Ipods and cell phones.  Raising the minimum wage seems like a no-brainer, but it affects some businesses drastically.  P.S. And one of the few employees I have that was minimum wage while raising a family has asked for her hours to be cut (so she wouldn't lose her governmental assistance) so it didn't even help the one who needed it.

Poverty has been up every year since 2001, with an additional 1.7 million people living in poverty since Bush took over. The last significant decline in the poverty rate came in 2000, during the Clinton administration, when it went from 11.9 percent to 11.3 percent.

The poverty rate increased every year for the next four years, peaking at 12.7 percent in 2004. If you are proud that finally one year the number went slightly down - now ONLY 12.3% of our population - you don't have much to be proud of.

I won't vot for Fletcher because one of the first things he tried to do was cut the health insurance of our teachers.

Next he had a campaign to fire merit employees against the rules. It should be performance not politics that determines whether or not to fire employees.

He pardoned all the people who violated the rules. He kept some crooks from facing trial.

And now he has allowed his campaign leaders to use phoney photographs of his opponent at a Casino Table.

And last, Fletcher can't even get along with the man he selected to run as his Lt. Governor. That is pitiful.

He has been bad for the fine people of our Commonwealth.

Thats like the bank robber bragging that he's improving, only robbing 5 banks this year vs. 6 last year.

Again, I repeat:

Poverty has been up every year since 2001, with an additional 1.7 million people living in poverty since Bush took over. The last significant decline in the poverty rate came in 2000, during the Clinton administration, when it went from 11.9 percent to 11.3 percent.

The poverty rate increased every year for the next four years, peaking at 12.7 percent in 2004. If you are proud that finally one year the number went slightly down - now ONLY 12.3% of our population - you don't have much to be proud of.

Lets add some more - while the nations median household income rose a whopping $29 a month to $48,201 annually, both men and women brought home less pay for the third consecutive year. And while the nation's median household income is $48,201, Whitley County's median household income is $24,951, and Knox County's is $20,519 - half that of the U.S. average.

In this latest report you brag about, the Western U.S. was the only region of the country to experience a drop in the number and percentage of people in poverty. The South continued to have the highest poverty rate, at 13.8 percent, compared with 12.3 percent nationally, and the lowest median household income.

There's more.

Americans without health insurance coverage hit a record high, up to 47 million uninsured Americans from 44.8 million. The number of uninsured children increased to 8.7 million, or 11.7 percent, in 2006, from 8 million, or 10.9 percent, in 2006.

Yeah, great work Fletcher/Bush. You really got our backs.
