Yes or No, Put casino gambling on a ballot

We'll solve this once and for all, just like we did for the lottery.

Put the casino gambling issue on a ballot, and vote yes or no.

Neither one of these clowns has MY best interest at heart, nor anyone else's.

This way, if  it's on the ballot, you can vote for your favorite candidate, and this issue at the same time.

I think the voters of Kentucky should decide, not Ernie Fletcher. With that said, I've been to Vegas more than 20 times, but would rather watch paint dry than to sit at Ceaser's or Bally's all day and night, so I would vote no. However, I'd be happy that my neighbors and I decided, not government. Plus, this issue is the only thing Fletcher seems to think will win it for him, otherwise he wouldn't really care about it. He can control other forms of gambling - horse racing, off-track betting, the Lottery and bingo from Frankfort, but he can't control the national casino operators, and he knows it.

But I get to decide - my vote is NO.

Beshear wants the people to get to vote on this issue. I may vote no but I appreciate the way Beshear is giving us the chance to decide.

Wanted to make sure I was clear with my post above - I like Beshear's position on this, I say yes we should let Kentuckians vote, I meant that when I go to vote I would vote NO to casino's.

Well, ok, I'll join this one.

I want it on the ballot, so,

I'm a republican, and I'll vote for Breshear to put it on the ballot.

And, when it's there, I'll vote "yes" for casino gambling.

Here is the argument against putting it on the ballot.  The gambling industry has millions, heck billions, of dollars at their disposal to pour into slick, misleading advertising campaigns that will sway alot of people with their false promises.  There is nowhere near that kind of money available to counter those claims.  So the most gullible will go to the polls to vote it in just because they loved the way that ad made them feel.  The deck is stacked.

Government sponsered gambling is just away to tax the poor without  calling it a tax.

This is a Democracy and whenever the people get to decide an issue it reinforces the beauty of our system.  I wonder if the people had been the ones who could have decided if all of Fletcher's cronies should have been pardoned by him before they even went to trial, I doubt they would have done it.

Fletcher is grasping at straws. His corrupt government of the privileged few is trying to paint him as a saint because he has flip-flopped and is now against the people getting to vote. Some months ago before he saw how big of a mess his campaign was in he saw the issue the same way Beshear sees it. Let the people vote!

The phoney photos the Fletcher campaign has concocted about Breshear again shows that the only way Fletcher knows how to campaign is by throwing dirt on his opponent.  Don't be deceived.

I agree that gambling is  a hidden, progressive tax on the poor. However, since the poor get the most help from tax dollars, maybe it is fair that they bear the burden of this tax.

the above post is typical of the hate and bitterness that Democrats have for anyone who disagrees with them.  This is the attitude the we need to get away from so that we can have serious debate.

I don't follow you at all. What part of this person's post do you disagree with, and what aspect of is is hateful? You don't state your case whatsoever.

It is the same old Fletcher-Republican bashing that goes on on this Message Board all the time.  It is the same, tired tactics used by the Dems in every election.  As always, there is no substance, just bitterness.

I'm a republican, and I'm ticked off people. Fletcher should go to jail for what he's done, I don't care how much money he channels into this area.  And, I hope he takes Senator david williams with him.

That's what democracy is all about, voting for what you do or don't want.

You still didn't state your case. Give us the positives of the Fletcher years - I'd like to know.

Yeah, you're a Republican, whatever!  That hate filled statement shows you're a true Dem all the way!

You must be the grand Republican Palm Reader.  How can you tell that person is not a Republican? Many Republicans don't just vote the straight ticket. Many Democrats don't just vote the straight ticket either. When we are in as big of a mess in Frankfort, and Washington, DC regarless of political party we must clean house.  That was not a hate filled statement that person posted. That was the truth.

He'll lose the election because he thinks the people of kentucky can't make a decision for themselves on the huge issue of casino gambling.

Not that he had a chance anyway, but, the casino thing will just put more dirt on the pile.

I agree. Whenever a complex issue can be voted on by the people we should all be pleased that we the people are the ones who get to decide. I am against Casino gambling but I am pleased we get to vote yes or no.  If it passes I will accept the decision of the people of Kentucky.

Well, it looks as if we should get the opportunity to vote on this after all.

And, if it comes to the ballot, I'll vote YES!.

I'll need a job when I retire, and that would be perfect for me.
