Did I hear correctly on this. Walgreen's Drug to build on the Peach Corner site. I am glad to see a Walgreens, but, I sure hate to see Peach Corner go. I heard they had several site they were looking at, and want to build two stores in corbin.
I heard they were looking at the site across from the Expo center. That close to the hospital and rite aid around the corner probably has them interested. I hope the land developers make that a nice retail center. South corbin needs something like the trademart. I would hate to see the peach corner gone. They have great product and staff.

Rumor is they have rescended thier offer and is going to London instead.
I heard that Laurel County Fiscal Court gave Walgreens a incentive package too if they would come to london! Free taxi service to and from work for all the employees for two years. The only catch was that Laurel would have to first get a taxi service. Doesnt seem like a problem, they give away money they aint got either!

I agree with you Devin that competition is good, but Walgreens will not provide new tax revenue unless they are offering products or services that the other couple of dozen Pharmacies, Krogers, Rite-Aids, Wal-Marts, etc. don't offer, or brings in revenue from outside the area. Unfortunately it will do neither, just take business from other local businesses. Also, all of the profits end up in Illinois where they are headquartered.
That said, addind another national chain to our list hopefully will encourage other national chains that offer unique products or services to our area to locate here.
