Did Estep contradict himself in his editorial, or not???

I have a legitimate question here, and it's easy to answer if anyone has the papers from the last week or so. I don't, so I'm relying on you, fellow posters.

Swindler's report of the tourism meeting said Estep made the comment "I'm running the show here", and I think "Get away from this table, your finished here", or something similiar.

Then, when the weekly came out, Estep mentioned he tasked his reporter to give his side to it, and he stated he had to allow him to report it fairly.  That said, I believe Knuckles reported about the same verbage, but, with some added comments along with the statements, that Swindler did not have in her report.

Then, yesterday, Estep says, he never said any of it, as he had it on tape, and it is not on there.  At least that's how I read that.  It never happend, and he is inviting all of us to come down and listen to the tapes.

So, he's saying his own reporter and another is wrong, and his tapes are right.

Who do we believe here.

Did I miss something. Honestly, does anyone have the articles so we  can check them all.

I can see no earthly reason why Swindler would quote what she did if it wasn't said.

I put it to you , fellow posters.

And as a journalist he is supposed to protect freedom of speech and present the facts with integrity.  "Get out of here, this is my show"?

I believe Samantha and others who attended that meeting.

You obviously didn't read Mr. Estep's article.

Many of us have not only read this weeks News Journal editorial but we have read his others, and also the reports on the Tourism Meetings. I believe Samantha and other people who were present.

Yes, Knuckles article aligned with Samantha's, only he had more of the conversation, yet he also had the quotes that Samantha used.

Knuckles sustained Swindler's article.

Then, the tapes appear, with none of the two  previously reported comments on it.

Strange,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I read Estep's article and I think he was talking about last month's meeting. you could just get the tapes and find out for yourself. or are you too biased to let the truth get in your way?

What Estep needs to do is invite Swindler to his office, or to a neutral place such as the Dixie, and have her listen to the tapes.  (If there are any tapes)

And, Samantha could bring one of her reporters with her, and Estep could have Knuckles there as his back up.

If you can't believe Samantha and Trent then you must believe there is a conspiracy to get Don. The only problem is that othere people were at the meeting and none of them have disputed the articles Samantha or Trent wrote. Why should Samantha go anywhere to meet with Don since he has been griping about her since she arrived in Corbin. And before she arrived he has always slammed his competition.  Trent is a very good writer and I respect him for reporting the facts. Samantha is a very good writer and I respect her for reporting the facts.

So who is right?? And who is wrong?? Sounds like Trent Knuckles forgot to put Don's famous Quote he shouted at Terrell Jr in his article.

Sounds like Swindler again has knocked another homerun!!!!

The News Journal Publisher has helped all of us to realize what a great writer Samantha Swindler is at the Times Tribune, and how enjoyable it is to participate on this message board.  Swindler and Terrell should give the News Journal Publisher a plaque and a letter of thanks.

Maybe Terrell and Swindler need to start dating.  Unless.........................................

It's been said here on other threads, that that the best advertising for this board is Don Estep and his weekly history paper. By the time you get his paper, the news is already history.

I was going through some things on my desk today and found a copy of Mr. Estep's famous editorial endorsing Gov. Fletcher. Among the things he said was, "Until a few years ago our newspaper's policy was that we would not endorse candidates." But he went on to say " But a few years ago we endorsed Charlie Siler, and later David Williams." In that same editorial he went on to endorse Gov. Fletcher. What does that mean? It means he has never endorsed anyone from Corbin in his history of being the publisher.

That is either true, or he has a flawed memory, or he just can't tell the truth. Decide for yourself, which one is it?

Of course, I'll go with him not being able to tell the truth.

He's gotten so mixed up in politics in the last few years, he doesn't know what he's saying.

You talk about Estep as if he is the icon of journalism. I will admit he is a good writer, a gifted speaker and his name is know in almost every household in Corbin but sometimes you flatter him beyond belief on this message board. His threads live indefinately. They are a real tribute to him.

You never even addressed the post 2 above yours. Was Estep telling the truth, experiencing a flawed memory, or telling a lie?
You don't even read the other posts. You just keep repeating the same generalities.

Again ... you insist on talking about Don Estep.

My point exactly!

I'm surprised they let you post from your office, but since you're supporting Don I'm sure they look the other way.

Keep in mind, no one had a whole lot to say about him until his tantrum at the Aug or Sept tourism meeting. He showed his true colors. He can't handle the truth.
