That would be better than it sitting empty. It is kind of sad that there isn't a new car dealership in Corbin -- they have all moved to Knox or Laurel Co.
If I heard correctly, the investment group that Jamal Mashburn, former UK star, is in with owns the property. But that is just random talk. I'd like to know too.
Heard today a rumor that a mobile home sales may go there, and also a RV dealer.

Lanny Myers owns the Ford lot. Rick Avart, Mashburn, Ron Mercer group owns the GM lot. Heard today that a fence is going up and a salvage yard was coming in on the GM lot. Heard that an indoor/ outdoor flea market is going in Ford lot. How nice!
Maybe we could entice one of those houseboat companies from Somerset to move in there. Our lake still has water in it, and theirs don't. Those lots would be perfect for that type of thing.
Well, we're building another spec building in the industrial park, with no tennant in mind as we know of, and the Ford lot sits empty.
I know, the industrial park is sort of government land, and the Ford lot is private property, but, if something moves into the ford lot, corbin will get the occupational taxes from the employees, where as if the move into the industrial park, the city will get nothing. Is that correct.
Spec building is great when certain aspects are met:
1. Are we in a Booming Economy, including growth in Manufacturing. 2. The area in which the building is being built is having a lot of progress. 3. Companies are approaching the Economic Development Committee requesting lease space. 4. There is a clear and present need for a certain building or space.
These would be just a few of the questions needing answers before we build. I dont see this being real at this time in Corbin. Look at London's Spec Building... It still is not leased. And if it wasnt for Pepsi bailing us out on the first one, we would probably still be strapped with it and no prospects.
I can understand having one available, but would have hoped there was an inkling of hope in having someone lined up for it.
And, sometimes you have to act when you get the money for them. I'm not sure if it's a first come, first serve type of thing or not as far as funding goes.
I also noticed the old Drive In Theatre had a for lease sign on it too. That makes three huge lots on the main road for sale or lease.
