Congratulations Paul Jones and Hall-Watson

Phyllis and my son Bob send our congratulations to Paul and Shirley Jones, his family, and friends for the quality products and excellent services Hall-Watson has provided the people of our area for 85 years.

85  YEARS............

His family started the business in 1922 and they survived the horrible depression, and have remained a key business in our area for all these years.

Paul was a charter member of Corbin's first Industrial Commission which was started December 5, 1958 when he was also serving as Chairman of Corbin's Chamber of Commerce.  Paul flew his plane with other city leaders to visit prospective companies about locating in our area. American Greetings, NCR, and National Standart were among those prospects. Paul and his wife Shirley continue to be very active in our community. They have both been avid supporters of Corbin's Main Street program. Shirley enjoyed a fine career in the medical industry.

Roy Kidd and I were fortunate to play baseball with Paul when we were still in high school. He was a key player as second baseman of Corbin's men's baseball team and was a big help to me as I played shortstop. I have always been fascinated that he learned to fly military planes under the instruction of the great baseball player, Ted Williams, and was a teammate of Ted's on a military team.  Paul served his nation with distinction as a Naval pilot and retired from the Naval Reserves.

One of my first memories is the time my parents bought me a small chair at Hall-Watson. Our children used that chair as they grew up and now some of our grandchildren have used it.

Since returning home in 1997 it has been most enjoyable to take our annual trip to see the Reds play an evening game and to stay over for the next day's afternoon game. Paul is one of the most knowledgable baseball men I have ever known. Paul, Dr. Barton, Bob Cathers, and I also enjoyed being in South Bend, Indiana to see Roy Kidd inducted in the College Football Hall of Fame. We will always remember seeing Roy receive that great honor.

He and Shirley just celebrated a wedding anniversary this week, and we salute them both, and those in their family and their employees  who have kept Hall-Watson serving the people of this community for 85 years.

We wish Hall-Watson many more years of service to our community. Thanks Paul and Shirley. You will always be special friends.

Bob and Phyllis Terrell and all the Terrell family
