Knox County Occupational Tax, where is Corbin's share.

I had hoped that by now, our city government would have done something to push knox county to give us our fair share of the occupational tax money collected.  I don't know if they have or not, does anyone else.

What can we do about this, sue them, add another 1% to their tax.  Any ideas.
Julio Cima hasn't done a thing about it.

From the looks of this thread, I guess no one cares corbin is getting screwed out of it's share of the knox county occupational tax money.

Some people in Frankfort cannot understand why the City of Corbin does not file suit on this theft of Corbin money for the City of Barbourville and Knox County.  Corbin is the only city in Kentucky whose people and businesses actually pay taxes to another city.  BARBOURVILLE! And we just keep letting them get by with it.

It shows the weakness of our city commission.

Is Cima still the corbin district magistrate? If so, his name should be all over the papers and this board.

I think we should get the tax money, but really what difference does it make. What are we going to do with the money? The same thing we are doing now? Nothing? I like that we are fixing the bridge over lynn camp creek, but what about using it as a tool in bringing jobs to this area! Thats right, INCENTIVES! Use the tax effectively to add more jobs to Corbin. If they dont plan on doing that, let barbourville have it. Maybe they can do something constructive with it.

That's a cruddy attitude, go after the money because it's OURS, not THEIRS. I don't care how we use it, it's still OURS!!!

This ticks me off every time I think of it.

Wonder why Willard and the boys are afraid to tackle this issue.

For the most part McBurney and Commission have done a great job. In fact, I give them high marks for the way they have handled just about everything. They probably have a plan in place for Knox so lets just give them time. And who knows, Knox may come around and offer to do the right thing with the Corbin part of the Knox occupational tax. I agree with a previous poster that the Corbin magistrate has done nothing for Corbin on this matter. It is almost like the east Corbin voters are not important to him.

Yes. I agree with the Terells on this. The mayor needs to get off his lazy duff and do something about this tax situation. I wish Bob Sr. would move into the city so we could vote him in as mayor and get something done. And Jr. could be city manager. Things would get done then!

Someone needs to do something. Look at all the businesses in knox co paying taxes. Especially since Falls Ford moved to 25.

If the city has a plan, then what are they waiting for.

If no plan is in hand, which is what I think it is, then they need to get one.

The Knox Fiscal Court, with Cima included particularly, is laughing at us. They're getting corbins money, and giving nothing in return.

The only way to solve this, is for corbin to pass the 1% for the knox county side, make them pay 2%, and the people put the pressure on the fiscal court to resolve the issue with corbin. When they do, then corbin can remove theadditional 1%.

Cima has done nothing.

And, by the way, are you sure Cima is still the magistrate.
