That is one of your proplems ... you think that only your ideas are the right ideas. That is why there are votes. The vote was five to one. It would have been six to one if the other member had attended. No guts were involved for the one person to vote no. Everyone could have caved in to special interest and voted no. That would have been the easy road. The right thing was done.

I think the members that actually bothered to show up at the meeting and then voted by an overwhelming majority to do what they thought was right are the brave ones they didn't cave in to an effort on this board to threaten and harass them and they managed to ignore some pretty intense lobbying to keep the old web deal thank God our tourism board is made up of mostly strong minded people.

Suze and Missy are weak links.

Thats one big long sentence there Don, you should have gotten someone to help you write it, maybe added a few commas, or broke it down into two or three sentences.

The cowards in this deal are Patil, McBurney and Tipton.

What comes around, goes around.

If you don't like the board there poster, why are you on it.

So they are cowards because they didn't do what YOU wanted them to do? WELCOME TO BIG PEOPLE WORLD! Sometimes, you don't always get your way and not everyone caves in to your childish demands.

I'd say one of the reasons many of those people voted against your wishes is because of all the "heck" they received on this message board prior to the meeting. Your plan backfired.

I think you forget, previous poster, that these people on these boards are there for ME, not THEM, they represent ME, and the other citizens of corbin. They are acting self serving, making decisions for their own behalf. Not for the people of corbin.

Suze and Missy are the only ones looking out for the people of corbin and their wishes. They should be commended.

Oh well, and we wonder why corbin takes so long to move upward and onward.

Clearly you are in a huge minority since the board voted overwhelmingly on this issue. Missy didn't bother to show up, from what I here.

I don't understand what you mean by them being self serving. What do any of the board members have to lose or gain over this issue? Nothing. They made the right decision. Deal with it.

I HAVE SEEN THE TERM "HUGE MINORITY" USED BEFORE IN SIMILAR POSTS. I BELIEVE YOU ARE ONE OF A "SMALL MINORITY" WHO BELIEVE THE TOURISM COMMISSION IS DOING A GOOD JOB.

THE CITY COMMISSION DOESN'T REALIZE HOW HAPPY THIS COMMUNITY WOULD BE IF BRUCE AND DON WERE SWEPT OUT OF THEIR JOBS. IT WOULD BE CELEBRATION TIME. YOU MUST BE LIVING IN A CAVE WITH NO LIGHT FROM THE OUTSIDE WORLD. IF WE DON'T WANT TO ACCEPT THE CRAP THEY HAVE BEEN DOING, WE WILL KEEP STANDING UP FOR THE RIGHTS OF OUR MAJORITY.

PEOPLE ACROSS THE TRI-COUNTY AREA THINK WE HAVE BEEN OUT OF OUR MINDS THE PAST TWO YEARS.   FORMER CORBIN ATHLETES, GRADUATES, AND THEIR FAMILIES WHO HAVE BEEN BACK HERE AND TOURED THE OSSIE BURCH FIELDHOUSE, AND COME BACK FOR REUNIONS AND WHO HAVE SEEN HOW THE PERSON DEEPLY INVOLVED IN RAISING THE MONEY FOR THAT PROJECT WAS TREATED THINK WE ARE NUTS.

WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO WAKE UP THE SLEEPERS WHO JUST GO ON AND ON AND LET A SMALL MINORITY OF POWER BROKERS CONTROL OUR DESTINY? YOU ARE ONE OF THOSE IN A TEENY, WEENY, MINORITY.

YOU seem very self centered and angry. I bet you are usually pretty unpleasant to be around which explains why you are trying to micromanage the tourism board through anonymous posts.

I can tell you, when you bash members of tourism, or the city commission, the fiscal court or whoever on here it has the opposite effect of what you want it to. Members of those boards, who may be persuaded to agree with you if you simply talked to them in person in a decent manner, get angry and more unwilling to do what you want them to.

Maybe you need a lesson in manners and how to deal with people.

If the tourism commission was not doing the right thing then Willard would step in. He is that kind of a leader. Maybe you don't know all of the details.

What are the details? Are you insinuating there is something else besides Estep and Carpenters hatred of the Terrells? Be specific. Don't seek to destroy someone's reputation by making phony allegations.

Yes, just what other details could there be?

When Terrell, Sr. was fired two years ago one of the City Commissioners told people that there was something they didn't know about that caused it.  That was a bunch of cheap bunk. That kind of innuendo was put out to take pressure off City Hall because they sat on their hands and butts when that happened and didn't do anything about it. They wanted to ruin his reputation.  It backfired.

Now once again both Terrells have a few people out blabbing bunk and trying to plant questions about why there is still a hate campaign going on against them.

It has backfired again.  They have the ordinary working people and the young and the old in their corner. And it is just killing some of those who want so bad to put them down.  Quit putting out the bunk again.

Tell me Bruce, do you go in to work early just to read and post on this board.

Maybe veteran member Humility Bob could get a power point presentation worked up and lead a delegation to the next commissioner meeting.

I think everything will work out OK.

Corbin has a lot of good people.

I don't have any plans to take a delegation of any kind to any meetings at City Hall. I might, however, go with a  delegation to Frankfort to try to get five different road projects completed that have been screwed up the past several years. If a delegation would go to Frankfort to try to get economic development programs simplified and structured for small businesses, I would be glad to go.

If there were delegations going to Frankfort to try to get a new Library or to Washington, D. C. to get a new Post Office I would be glad to go.

Corbin has not made an all out effort to get Knox County to share the Occupational Taxes. Corbin is the only city in Kentucky or perhaps the nation whose citizens and businesses pay taxes that end up in another city.

I have not seen the city offer good reasons why those of us out in the County should seek annexation into Corbin. The longer they wait on showing what are the advantages in being in Corbin the less likely they will ever be able to increase Corbin's city limits. We will soon be at that point where Corbin cannot grow any more.  When the 2010 census is taken London will have more population than Corbin.

I hear politicians and a newspaper publisher talk about how great things are and that our people are in great shape. And then I look around at the real world and see many of our people living from pay check to pay check. Many are in low paying jobs with no health benefits.

I will do my very best to help Corbin, but Corbin is going to have to help itself by have a focus and a commitment to be the best it can be. Our schools are our great hope in developing a better quality of life for our young people. But many of them will have to take their talent and education and pursue their dreams somewhere else.

We have a political boss system that seeks its own pleasure and forgets the people they serve. That is why the life of Christ is so beautiful.  The widow's mite and ministering unto the least of these touched his heart much more than the rich young ruler.
Bob Terrell, Sr.

I always appreciate it when Mr. Terrell posts his ideas on the board. I hope he will contact Mayor McBurney about a new post office and get something started. I just figured that since the regional post office went to London a few years ago that all of Corbins chances were gone. The last time they said that our post office was all that we needed down here but maybe things have changed now.

With Bob's pererverance, and Willard's knowledge of how the post office system works, maybe it will help.

But, the man to talk to is Hal Rogers. He has the clout.

Anything to do with federal money, Hal is the man.

Is Corbin's goal to get bigger? Does getting bigger mean a better quality of life for those who already live in Corbin? I have understood that Corbins policy for many years has been to annex only upon request. Are you suggesting Corbin try to market the idea of annexing to outside areas? If so, what might you suggest for some places to annex. Cumberland Falls Road? Tattersall? Fifth Street Road? Cardinal Heights? Moore Hill? Lynn Camp?

Another thing. I've heard from city officials that our tax base is very low as far as residences go.

Why, too much rental property.

Too many HUD rentals.

Probably retired people living in older homes with a low taxable value and claiming the homestead exemption. Many of those folks pay no property tax at all.

So are you for or against the homestead exemption? Is it a local, state, or federal program, the homestead exemption.

My parents are on it, as is my aunt and my wife's aunt.

What is your solution or idea.

For me, I'd rather have people living in homes with a homestead exemption than the 100+ HUD's in the city.
