City officials don't post on this board because they obviously don't consider it a good way to talk with people. They feel like they are being tricked into a stupid argument with stupid people who don't have the courage to talk to them in person. the mayor and commissioners have told me its a nuisance and bad for the town. Everyone who actually lives in corbin knows the board admin and his one or two friends are responsible for many of the posts critical of everything from the chamber and tourism to economic incentives and the occupational tax. its so obvious like all the stuff about the tourism web deal. who would really care about that except for the administrator. all i see on here is just the same few complainers over and over again who apparently don't have real jobs or interesting hobbies. city officials see it that way and most of the people in Corbin know this is the way it is. So don't expect our city leaders comment anytime soon on here to appease a few whiny losers.

I think you're wrong here. The city leaders could set up an email account through the city to receive feedback and have questions posed to them from all the citizens. They won't because they don't want to spend the time answering or reading them.

I have found, from personal experinece, when an issue comes up, they only poll a small group of people about the issue, rather than go out and ask the general public about it.

They could even put a topic up for a discussion board such as this, and only allow those to post who use their names, real names. The names could be hidden from display on the board, but the leaders could see them to know their legit.

And, yes they DO read and post here.

Did you forget to sign your name. I think you have posted before and used your name? Or do you sign sometime?

Did you forget to sign your name? I also think you have posted before and used your name. Or do you sign sometimes?

I find that hard to believe. Maybe you think you know this for sure but I doubt it.  The city leaders I have talked to have said they don't post or even look at it but they do hear things that are posted on the board. They do not think it a good thing for Corbin but from what I can gather they have a fairly high regard for Bob Sr and Bob Jr and therefore just sort of let the board alone. One told me that all you have to do is give them a call about an issue and tell them your concerns. He said it is not like they are hard to find. I doubt that you will ever see any of the city leaders posting here.

Most of them seemed kind of mildly annoyed by the board. I think they know it only really represents a few people's views so they don't take it too serious.

You're probably right they will never post here, but they should. But, also, they should only post here if all of us have to register and have a user name. I know that's beating a dead horse here, but, they would have to know who they're talking to, even if it's only to a nickname.

I looked at another thread of suggested names for commissioners, and it had some really good names on it. I think several live outside the city, but, even then, some good names. Many, if they were elected, may be the type to post here or have an email for us to send comments to. Others would not. There were several on that list that would be excellent candidates.

I agree that the mayor and ALL the commissioners have said to just call them. But, that's not always convinent, for both of us. We work, and by the time we get home and get our stuff done with the house and kids, it's too late to call and bother them. And, they have lives other than their city positions too.

Email is an excellent way to communicate, as long as both parties use it. The bad thing of course is it's a record once it's sent and received, but, that's still a good thing, as it's a contact.

You don't have to give an answer to a question or problem, just acknowledge you're read it and will give it your time to think about. That's all anyone wants, to be heard. Thats the reason this board is successful and is growing.

Or why not just grow some nuts and talk to local leaders in person or at a meeting instead of anonymously on a message board.

Why don't you just grow up? You insult women. You make yourself come off like a number one jerk. Why do you use the message board if you don't like it?

Insult women? What are you talking about?

I think the poster makes a good point. Posting anonymously to a message board is probably not the best way to get something done. If I were a local leader, I wouldn't take things like that very seriously either.
