Do you think we'll be the outcasts for the next four years when Beshear wins the election.
Steve Beshear and Dan Mongiardo want very much to see Eastern Kentucky grow and gain more jobs. They have both taken tours of our High School and are aware of our school's high acadamic ranking. They have seen the site wherre our Exposition Center is going to be built. We have driven them past the EKU campus and our Industrial Parks.
Dr. Dan Mongiardo, a physician, is from Hazard and is very focused on issues related to health and medical care. We all know this is a key issue that needs serious attention for all of us.
i am confident they are also aware of helping the development of small business owners. A great deal of the growth opportunities across our country is by helping small entrepreneurs start up new companies, or expand small companies and to be successful in their ventures. Sometimes Governmental programs are too cumbersome and complicated that they discourage small businesses from seeking to use them. Steve Beshear was Lt. Governor when he and Gov. Collins were able to attract Toyota to Kentucky. They have also had experience in dealing with large, International companies.
We urge you to come to the Corbin Technology Center this Thursday, October 18 at 11:00 am to hear the Beshear-Mongiardo team talk with us about their plans and program for all Kentuckians. We welcome Democrats, Republicans, and Independents to join us Thursday in showing them a strong welcome from our area.
Steve Beshear and Dan Mongiardo did a great job addressing the issues today at the rally at Corbin's Technology Center. He enthusiastically stated that "after the election is over if he wins he will serve as Governor of all the people of Kentucky." He also said that "this area has great potential for the future. Education, health care, new jobs that pay good wages will be a high priority. Dan and I are both from small towns. We understand the values people have in small towns. We want to help you grow and succeed." We were blessed with some songs from McKenzie Morgan, the talented 10 year old girl from our area. Her rendition of God Bless American was inspiring. After hearing her songs, Steve Beshear said," If Dan and I are elected we will have McKenzie sing in Frankfort. She is a great example of the good things about Kentucky." Doris Allison played the keyboard and added a lot of spirit with her music and personality.
Commissioners Phil Gregory, Bruce Farris, and City Manager Bill Ed Cannon attended the event along with Chamber of Commerce President Marlon Sams and Main Street Director Sharea Myers. It was a great meeting.

Do you think we'll be the outcasts for the next four years when Beshear wins the election.
The way it is looking the only"Outcasts"will be the Fletcher-Nighbert Gang. Sounds like this poster has done declared victory for Beshear and defeat for the ole Fletcher-Nighbert Gang.
Unless this is a "Dewey defeats Truman" election for Fletcher, yes, I'm confident Breasher will win.
I'm just wondering which cushy county or city job Neighbert will get when he comes home. Has he ever worked a wager earning job.
Williamson is a big question here too. What can he do. Maybe Cathy Prewitt will hire him as her personal assistant, since he owes his political careet to her.

From what I hear Thursdays rally was a worthy endeavor. Very good!
Maybe I've been giving McBurney, Lynch and Shelton too much credit.
I really appreciate Bob Terrell Sr for taking the bull by the horns and making the Steve Breshear visit happen in Corbin. As for whether the Chamber should have invited Breshear or not, well I believe they should have but I guess its time to put that behind us as just another example of poor judgement. It think it was also great that Corbin's city manager and two of our commissioners attended the rally and from what I hear talked with Brashear and Mongiardo before the event got underway. If the polls are any indication, and they usually are, those two will be in the governors office before we know it.
And I'll tell you another thing. After Breshear wins, who do you think will be the go to guy around here. It'll be Bob Terrell, and rightfully so. And do you think he'll play politics like the Fletcher cronies and the Forcht group. No way. Bob is a class act, and it wouldn't even surprise me if he embraced Estep and Carpenter and asked them if they need anyting. Bob Terrell is an example of what this country is about, hard work and success go hand in hand, both professionally and personally.
It'll be interesting to see all the people sucking up to Bob for help after the election. And, he'll do whatever he can for them, because it's the right thing to do.
I heard Steve Beshear speak last week in Corbin and again yesterday in Somerset. He said in both speeches that he is excited about the opportunity for economic growth the area that includes Corbin, Williamsburg, London, Somerset and Barbourville. He said he and Dan want to help the small business operations that are already in our area grow and prosper. The people of Eastern Kentucky have great potential and we will work with them He went on to say that he and Dan were both from small Kentucky towns. He was born in Dawson Springs and his Dad and Grandad were both Baptist preachers. Dan was born in Eastern Kentucky and we both understand the challenges small towns face.
I was very impressed at both programs. He is running a positive campaign. He emphasizes that Republicans, Democrats, and Independents need to join together to help Kentuckians have better opportunities.
I believe Steve and Dan will bring the people of Kentucky together.
Geez Louise! I need to check my email more often. No, the tri-county area will absolutely not be abandoned when Steve Beshear wins the Governor's race. And yes, he is going to win. I know this because I work for him and I see the support rolling in from all across the state. Quite frankly, I've worked lots of campaigns and I can tell you with certainty,....this kind of support for a Ky Gov candidate is absolutely stunning! If you, as a tri county area, really want to be noticed, I have to tell you,...it's not about the amount of money that is raised in your area (though that has been impressive),...it's about vote totals. My advice is to get out there and pull the lever for Beshear. When those vote totals roll in on election night,...now that's when the candidate takes real notice!
Now, back to the question of the tri-county area being abandoned in a Beshear administration. I've known Steve and Jane Beshear for most of my adult life and I can assure you that they both have a heart for the whole of Kentucky. I know that some wonderful things will be presented to that area of the state. Here's the thing though, you need to be open to new things and you need to be ready to come to the table and ask for that kind of abundance. A long time ago, I set up a mondo meeting for the "fathers" of Corbin. This meeting took place when Steve Beshear was Lt. Governor. Pretty much, every aspect of state government had something to offer to Corbin. Guess what the outcome was? You got nothing. And why was that? It certainly wasn't because of your politics. It was because the Corbin folks who attended that meeting feared any kind of change,...even the ones that would have been terrific and ground breaking,...even the ones you got anyway like the by-pass and your technology center to name a few.
Today, things are different. You don't have to wait years for something good to happen. You have different leadership today who want to see progress, we have information outlets like this site so it goes straight to the people and I'm excited to see what Corbin can become. So get out there and vote for Steve,...even if you've never pulled a Democrat lever. It's time to move past that old school partisan-ship and get on with the business of making the tri-county area the fantastic place it needs to be, of moving Kentucky forward, and of blazing new trails for the rest of this nation.
I believe you're right MerCSakes, and I feel the vote totals will reflect a larger than normal Democrat swing. Keep in mind, this is a republician area, and many will vote that way because they are a party person, not a person person.
As for your meeting long ago with city fathers, what year was that. I could guess, but, as I think back, the city leaders with the specific governor, I understand your comments. Many times, none of the city leaders were under 50, and they were all retired. Williamson was the only one that wasn't, and he had a job where he could come and go as he pleased. I would love to know the year you speak of.
I'm a republician, and I'll be voting for Breashear. Why, three things,
1. He'll let us vote on casinos. He shows he' cares what the citizens think about it.
2. The Fletcher pardons. The issues concerning the pardons aren't what most people are ticked off about, it's him pardoning them before the court decided whether they were guilty or not.
3. The "taking the 5th" issue, where he refused to speak on the grounds that he may incriminate himself.
I could add another, him ticking off the teachers in the state the first thing in office, but, I'll leave that out as it was a concentrated group, and not an entire population issue.
Both governors say they have plans for health care and education issues, but frankly, we've heard all that before. They'll have to wait till the election before we can judge them on that. Fletcher had 4 years already, and nothing much has happened. So, that's a strike against him before the start.
Breashear will have an opportunity to show all of the state what he's made of. And he needs to do it right from day one.
The republicians fired all their shots early, and has been trailing ever since. Sen. David Williams was hoping the republician atmosphere would carry on through a second term for Fletcher, and he could follow the next election, but Fletchers fiasco ruined it for him too.
The question keeps being asked, what has Fletcher done for Corbin since he has been in office? Someone please answer this. Also, this "Fletcher will be able to do much more in his second term" nonsense. What a cop-out comment
And congratulations on receiving that check. Course there are bigger questions that need to be asked when it comes to any Governor buzzing up and down the I-75 corridor handing out big checks from what he's calling "surplus money" in the heat of an election. Not very good stewardship, but I still think that Corbin should accept it with joy and make the best uses possible of the things it provides. A wise woman once told me that a gift was a gift, nothing more, but certainly nothing less, and it only came with one requirement. When you received a gift, even if the giver's motivation was questionable, all that was required of you was a smile, two words,..."Thank You", and enjoy the gift. Basically, it doesn't mean you have to vote for the guy.
As to the election, well, if you still believe that Mr. Fletcher is actually going to win on Tuesday,...
WAKE UP!
It's 7PM. In exactly 48 hours, Steve Beshear will be the next Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Governor Fletcher brought the 12,000,000 to Corbin two years ago.
The money was budgeted by Patton. To date we have received $12 Million from the Patton administration, and about $1 Million from Fletcher (out of $3 million that was promised) for the Expo Center.
Beshear is already abandoning our area. Just look at his transition team. According to the Lexington Herald
Ed Holmes - Lexington JoEtta Wickliffe - Harrodsburg Mark D. Guilfoyle - northern Kentucky Eleanor Jordan - Louisville Donna Moore - Lexington Steve Nunn - Glasgow Steve Pence - Louisville Helen Mountjoy - Owensboro Erenesto Scorsone - Lexington
And I just read online that he's named some finance budget team, all of them from west Kentucky, Louisville and Lexinton.

We are screwed!
I believe you are jumping to a conclusion too quickly. Steve Beshear is reaching out to some Republicans in a sincere effort to bring about bipartisanship in Frankfort. There will be more persons on the transition teams. The above list includes some very fine people. He is not going to overlook Eastern Kentucky. He is interested in making the Economic Development programs help more of our small business operations. Some times these programs are so complex and cumbersome they discourage small businesses from trying to use them.
We have been assured our City Leaders we will have good communications with key people in Frankfort. Governor Elect Beshear recognizes we have the potential to become a strong Economic Center for this part of Kentucky.
Let's not make a premature judgement. Let's give the Beshear Team time to get organized and launched.
I agree Bob, it's too soon to tell. Many on the transition team will not carry positions through the administration, but they will receive favorable treatment throughout the term.
Let's at least wait till the big party before we start throwing stones.
If you heard Steve Beshear on TV last night you would have heard that he will place a lot of emphasis on improving the economic base of Eastern Kentucky. He and the new Lt. Governor will view Eastern Kentucky as an important area.
