RE: Will Bashear abandon the tri counties after the election?

It looks like Brashear already has ethical violations he has been charged with. When a Dem has the Lexington Heratic paper questioning him there must be a problem.

You didn't even read the details of what happened. A person Beshear wanted to appoint to a key job has a question of whether or not there would be a conflict of interest.  Gov. elect Beshear asked the eithics committee to review the potential conflict to determne if it is against the rules.  If it is the person won't be appointed.  That is the way things are supposed to be done instead of finding out about it after the person has already been in the job.

It seems strange that Brashear has to ask someone else their opinion as to whether he is acting unethically. If it feels unethical, it is unethical. Just an observation.

Beshear isn't even Governor yet. How can he act unethical as Governor before he is even in office.  He did the right thing, he asked the Ethics Committee to give an opinion on whether or not a person he would like to have serve in his administration meets the guidelines.

I wonder in the Governor Elect has named a point man in Whitley Coounty yet? I heard it was a young man named Sizemore who lives out toward Tattersaw.

Now is the time for Gov Bashear to come forward and help SE KY. He can do it by securing the funding for the Pharmacy School at Cumberland College.

Don't hold your breath on that one. It is clear from the new Gov's Cabinent appointments that SE KY is as far away from his mind as possible.

Not sure I agree with the last post. I think there are certain folks that tried to hurt the Governor in this area such as Estep and his cronies, pretty easy to figure that out as inked it all over his newspaper.

There are people in this area the Governor will listen to and will very much support with time & funding but the our city fathers will have to listen and approach these people. The Governor's victory was a landslide, if you do the numbers at least 35-40% of Republicans crossed over, sorry but it was a landslide.

I would urge the mayor & city commission to approach and deal with the governor and his top supporters from this area, the election is over and it's time to put the interest of the city and our people first.

I'm sure the Governor is chuckling now as our chamber of commerce could not make room for him on their schedule, I think we can let the Governor know these folks are now in charge of a Mobile Hot Dog Stand the chamber now has and there are other people with real business expertise, both Republican & Democrat who will work together to make our area better for all of people.

New powers are rising, the time of the "StayThe Same Gang" has passed.

The last post sounds like he hopes Whitley County pays a price for being a Republican strong hold. I hope the Brashear is true to his word and helps all of KY, Republican and Democrat alike. I am afraid he will hold a grudge though. We don't have any strong Dems locally to help us. No one with pull.

Huh?????????????????

It is a Republican stronghold but not during the last election, did you see the results?

There are strong ties to the Governor in this area, our leaders unfortunatley have to at least pick up the phone and make that call or even type out a short email, it will require effort.

You might want to take a look at the Jobs leaveing this area also and and what were currently bringing in to replace the loss's?

No one wants the county to suffer but remember you have 127 other Kentucky Counties who are competing against you for Jobs & Funding, they are not too concerned about us at this moment.

Yeah

That's sorta the it works, we have what is called "Elected Officials" You know folks like County Judge Executives, Mayor's, City Commissioners, County Magistrates, you know, people your suppose to be voting for.

These officials have to actually tap resources that can help them out, simply being elected is only a part of what it takes to bring jobs and economic growth to any area.

Your too worried about Ego's and not the roadmap to improvement, I can tell by your sentence structure and short replies that your not interested in details and the plan to grow the area but are trying to keep the conversation on a person issue or the name game and or "Who" is the problem rather than "Why" and "How" we can grow the area.

My guess is that you will never be able to debate a plan and show any details but try the ole game of duck, run, blame & whine.

Every time information is requested on this board pertainining to improvement roadmaps, key details to improvements the "Stay The Same" gang can only moan & groan. I've only seen a few posts on here that have actual detail and a road forward. I've seen not one single post from any full time leader in Corbin that clearly shows the vision for the next ten years and how we are going to get there.

I do see purchases for Trailers, various other Misc. stuff but nothing that shows our vision and roadmap to the future.

Do You have that plan??

Actually, my sentence structure is fine. I just lack typing skills. Unlike you I am not a professional typist.

I wonder if the guy two posts up realizes his party, the Dems, won the election. He can start leading now instead of whining so much. Oh, I forgot that's all Deomcrats know how to do is whine.

YOU ALSO LACK A PLAN AND ROADMAP TO IMPROVEING THE AREA.

THe first test for this new governor for our area will be finishing the Hwy 92 project out of w'burg into mccreary county, and the completion of the expo center.

We'll just have to wait and see.

The past Governor and his Transportation Secretary, Mr. Nighbert, went all over the state during the last campaign delivering huge cardboard checks for road projects. But they never sent the money because there wasn't enough money to cover them. The Corbin area faces some tough problems and the Beshear Administration is trying to help us.  But the facts show the cupbord was left empty with a lot of broken promises. The money for the road up to our convention center was promised but not fulfillid.  The road at our new elementary school on 5th Street Road was promised but the promise was broken. Our state is in a financial mess.
