Should it be on the next voting ballot, for the presidential primary vote.
To read:
Are you in favor of allowing persons that do not live in the incorporated limits of the city of corbin to serve on or chair a committee or group, that deals with the collection or spending of city tax money earned by businesses or other means located in the city limits of corbin."
Yes NO
Put it to the people. The only people that can decide are the people that live in the city, just like the alcohol vote. No outsiders. Just city residents. This would put up or shut up on this issue for good.
All it takes is a petition, and some signatures of persons that voted in the last city election, to have it put on the ballot. You can call city hall to find out the exact procedures.
How about it.

RE: Put it to a ballot vote: ARE YOU IN FAVOR OF NON-CITY RESIDENTS ON CITY COMMITTEES THAT DEAL WITH CITY EARNED TAX DOLLARS?
I doubt that such a thing will ever be seen on the ballot but as a six year Corbin resident myself, I would like to see Corbin people serving on boards and committees unless there are circumstances that would suggest otherwise.
For example, I do not think that every Corbin resident is board or committee material. Some are too elderly to serve, some are just passing through, some do not have the education or expertise to serve and others are just plain not interested in getting involved.
If an effort is made and no city residents agree to serve then outside the city people might have to do. It should also be clear that non residents are always welcome to attend meetings, speak up with suggestions and volunteer their time.

Me and my friends don't want to serve on any Corbin committees or commissions. We would rather drive to London and eat and shop. They don't have any restrictions against out of city folks. At one time it looked like a good idea to get annexed into Corbin but now none of our neighbors want in.
Corbin seems like it is better than the rest of us. All of us in this Tri-County area are neighbors and what is good for one is good for the other. I don't blame Corbin for wanting its share of the Knox County Occupational Taxes but Corbin has been sitting on its butt doing nothing about it. You can't blame those of us who live out in the county for it.
Don't worry, most of us don't want on your boards, committees, or commissions. And many of us won't eat in your restaurants or shop in your stores. We will shop off exit 29 in South Laurel County.
Its always good when the Terrells chime in on a topic. Often they neglect to sign in but since they almost always post a cluster of replies to various Estep, Carpenter and Roy Kidd topics it is easy to ID their work. Be careful asking to serve on a City of London committee. They might send you back home in a chicken bucket. Are you presently on a Corbin committee? If you are and don't want to be just resign. Someone else will do it.

So you think the Terrells are the only ones that can write a complete sentence? You also think the Terrells could be the only people that disagree with you and your one or two partners, whoever you are? Keep trying to convince the world of that, you make this site more entertaining. You must also think you are Houdini, the magical internet Genie. Well, I'm not a Terrell, and not even an aquaintance. I don't sign in because I don't have a screen name, and don't need one to use this site.
I also don't recall mentioning any of the people you mentioned in the previous message. You seem to be the obsessed one, as your sarcasm is pretty distinguishable. The biggest joke though Houdini is that you talk about someone not signing in, but you then post anonymously. Seems somewhat hypocritical, and gutless, don't you reckon?
So getting off the Terrells and on the topic, what do you agree or disagree with?
This can be put to rest next year. Put it on the ballot. A city resident can approach the court clerk, ask for a petition, register the question they want put on the ballot, and then find out how many registered voters signatures they have to have.
They take their petitions, and start circulating them. Once they've got them, they take them back to the clerks office, they're verified, and then it's put on the ballot. Simple.
If you don't live in the corbin city limits, then you really have no dog in this fight.

I cannot sign in because my IP is banned. I wish I could. Who is this Houdini? Is he the guy that owns the Ford place?

Oh, it's easy to sign in. Just turn off or get out of that IP router program you're using, and use your email address. It's that easy. But, remember, then we'll know from which downtown office you're using to post and such.
Since only Bob Jr would have access to that information it is obvious where the previous post came from. Identifying each poster is very important to him.

Yes, Bob Jr. is the only one that knows how those things works, no one else in the whole world knows anything about computers other than Bob Jr. The Pentagon calls Bob Jr when they have a problem, as does the IRS and the NSA. Yes, Bill Gates would be no where without Bob Jr.
Are you for real, do you think that anyone with any computer sense doesn't know how it works, no wonder your IP is banned. No wonder you have to use a random scrambler (that's basically what it is).
It's not the IP address you're worried about, it's using a email address to confirm your registration.
So many times we allow the people we've elected to make good judgements on causes that affect us all, and they won't do it, as in this situation.
I say put it on the ballot, allow the people to decide.
Then, we'll find out if it's worth it to get rid of Estep and Tipton. Remember, this is about whether we do or do not want people that live outside the city limits having a say over how we spend money earned by city taxes and fees.
