PRAYER FOR CHILD

I am authoring this thread due to a email I recieved a few minutes ago from a friend requesting prayer. This is a community board, so I write this with a heavy heart and a request from all who read to come together and join me in praying for the following:

Mackenzie Foley is a beautiful, vibrant 4 year old preschool student at West Knox Elementry School. Mackenzie underwent surgery yesterday at UK and had a cancerous tumor removed from her throat, bone marrow taken from her hips, and had a type of port inserted into her chest for blood transfusions. According to the doctors at UK, this is an aggressive cancer and it is in her throat, hips, and kidneys. She has since been transported to St. Judes Childrens Hospital in Memphis.

This board has dealt with several negative issues, but I ask that we come together and put aside our differences and pray diligently for God to ease this pain for both this child and her family. I personally do not know this child or her family, but as a member of this community I cant express the pain I have had since reading about this situation. Being the father of three young children I feel so blessed right now I cant describe, and yet so devastated words could not serve justice. This town is a family, and one of our young is being dealt a terrible situation. Please pray for this young life, and ask that God's will be done. I know the power of prayer, and God's grace is never limited.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post and your prayers.

Thanks, AJ, for letting us know about this child. Will definitely pray for her, and put her on our prayer list at church. No one can fully understand true grief and sorrow, until they have been through it with a child. Thanks for the information.

I wanted to share a website for another child with a Corbin connection, who is battling leukemia. Her name is Jonnae Taylor, who is the 15 year old daughter of Denise Metzger Taylor, from Corbin. Jonnae has battled leukemia for the last two years, and had a re-lapse a few months ago. She has now undergone a bone marrow transplant, with her brother as the donor, and is battling to recover from this transplant at the Cincinnati Children's Hospital. Denise and Jonnae have a daily journal and update, where Denise shares their struggles and their faith to battle this disease. It is quite inspirational to read. The website is www.caringbridge.org/visit/jonnaetaylor Please keep them in your prayers during this difficult time for their family.

Yes, Jonnae is the granddaughter of Ed Metzger, niece of Brian Metzger. You should check out the website, as Denise and Jonnae are fighting the battle of their lives. I am inspired daily by their courage and Denise's words.
