RE: The next Tourism Committee board members, Will they be in city or out of city residents?

Yes, more than a few need corbin, but, they're getting help for free.

Our city leaders are inept when it comes to trying to do anything to get people to come into the city. They don't care. They have nothing to offer anyone that they don't already have to some point. All they can offer them is increased living expenses compared to the county.

Their insurance tax alone isn't worth coming into the city for.

If I came into the city, where I live right now, based on my present tax acessment on my home and lot, and my cars, I'd be paying over $350 more in fees to the city just on insurance taxes alone. My home and lot are appraised at $250k, and my 4 vehicles, 1 each for me and the wife, my daughter, and my work truck since it's a commericial vehicle and I have to insure the tools and equipment on and in it, adds up to the rest. I can't get city utilities since RECC is out here, and the discount on the fire insurance and living in the city is less than $100 (i've checked), i would get a small discount from changing to an in town resident for city water, there's no sewer out here so that's a bust. I'm already in the corbin school district, which to me is the most important thing. What can they offer me? The only thing is that I can vote out the clowns in there now in hopes that someone will take up the fight against knox county for the cities portion of the occu. tax.

I know, lets put up a fence around the city... a really BIG fence... so then all the people living in the city limits will stay in... and all the people who are not living in the city will stay out. This way there will be no bickering on the issue of boards and committees. One other thing... those who live in the city limits and are put on these boards and committees, should work at passing a law that if you own land, a business, rental house, apartment complex, etc. your tax dollars are not welcome here either. Why should we want the tax money if we dont want the individuals who are working to increase those tax dollars to serve in this community? I say we make this happen. This way we can truly say Corbin is all about where you live, and we make our decisions based upon an address and not an individuals abilities or assets to the common good of this town. Anxiously waiting your response and arguments.
