Ladies: Does your hairdresser talk on the phone while she does your hair?

This could go for men too, does your hairdresser talk on the cell phone, or phone, while she does your hair. The last two of mine did, and notice, I said the last two. This one, doesn't. And the worse thing about it was, she talked about nothing but gossip and non business. That really irks me.

My husband now gets his hair cut at a "real" barber shop, where it don't happen. They don't even have a phone.

My friends has told me this happens more and more often, along with triple booking appointment times and such.

Sure this is a pet peeve, but, that's what this board is for.

And, let's go on with this and store cashiers, talking on the phone while they check out your items, or carry on conversations with others while they scan your items. I used to let them do this, but not any more. Not since a clerk double scanned an item costing $40, and then wanted to argue about it.

I now let my feelings be known, and very sternly. Not mean, not vulgar, but sternly. That's what managers are for, to let them know what is going on.

Any comments!

I agree. Sometimes I catch myself talking on my cell phone when I should have it turned off. It does not show much respect if we are talking on the cell phone while we are doing business or talking in person with others. That's good advice you provided.

My wife and daughter has changed hairdressers 3 times because of this. I can't believe this goes on in a personal service related business.

My suggestion, the City Barber Shop. Walk in, wait your turn, get a haircut, and you're done.

I would love to name the hair salons that are the worst for this, but, I don't think it's allowed here.

Why not they talk about everybody else in town and are aloud to use first and last names.  Is this a new rule or something.

Mine did that once or twice, then I told her, enough is enough. I told her, very politely and away from all the other employees and customers, I pay her full price for her skills, I expect her full attention during my time with her.

It worked, for me anyway.

If she doesnt, dont use her anymore! We are only allowed to have our hair done by people who live in the city limits. People living outside the limits are not qualified.

Based on what the mayor and city commissioners and city manager is saying behind closed doors, you're right.

Only thing is, the city manager don't live in the city either. Maybe we can use that to get rid of him.

The City Manager & the City Attorney both live outside the city limits, pay no Tax's at all to the city?

What again are these two suppose to be doing, both of these two live outside the city and I wonder if there very interested in taking on their county governments where they live in the name of Expanding Corbin and or Getting our Money back from Knox County?

Does either one of these two live in Knox County? Would be sorta strange to live in Knox County, outside the city limits and Knox County owe us over a Million Bucks?

Awe, no way anything like that could be true.

Instead of naming hairdressers that talk on the phone, why not name shops that do not allow this rude behavior? I use to have a hairdresser that did this and quit her after 2X. As for checkout people, if they are talking on the phone or chatting for more than a moment and holding up the line, I usually politely mention that I am in a hurry. If that does not work, I tell them to talk on their own time. Usually works. I don't like to be rude but I feel that they are being rude to me and not doing their job as they should.

I go to LeChic design in London, and don't know if they have a policy or not, but I've never had trouble with my hairdresser. She is always professional. Not to say she has never answered her phone while she's working, but it is always short, and then back to work.

Also, has anyone had a problem with hairdressers who smoke? They stink really bad and with the close contact, it is very unpleasant. I never go to a hairdresser who smokes.
