I know this is a crazy idea, but, we were looking over our literature from last years trip to Myrtle Beach, at all the restaurant guides and Sun Fun books and such, and we came up with an idea.
The Corbin Tourism buys an ad for the KFC Museum, puts it in one of those books, and advertise the "Birthplace of Kentucky Fried Chicken, Restaurant and Museum".
I know this has been slammed before the registration requirement as one of the tourism chairman's ideas, but, it's a good one. Think about it. No matter what you think, the KFC museum brings in dozens or even hundreds of people in each day. I see tour buses there all the time.
Many of the Ohio, Indiana, Michigan Illinois tourists that visit Myrtle Beach each year, pass by corbin on the way. They see the signs I'm sure, but probably don't stop.
If they see the ad int he Sun Fun books, or Restaurant Guide while in Myrtle Beach, when they pass back by corbin on the way home, they may stop.
I know, it's in Laurel County, and the city won't get any benefit from it directly, but, maybe next time, they'll stay in corbin on a two day trip, or come to Cumberland Falls.
I think it would be worth a shot. Do you think the tourism committee would go for it.
