Saturday night I might add - good that they finally posted more than just vendor forms, but they should have details posted on that chamber site weeks ago instead of just in the last few days. We live part-time in Tennessee, and it was much better when this website (www.corbinkentucky.us) had nibroc and listed detailed information about nibroic such as bios, videos and music clips of all the bands, event schedules, maps, booth assignments, and had it available weeks, even months before nibroc.
If they wanted to do what was best for nibroc and get the message out all over the state and country, they would ask this website to post the nibroc info instead of doing their half-hearted job posting a little information just days before the festival. Once again politics take a front seat over what is best for the community.
I think its Joan Baez and The Starland Vocal Band, with special guests The Four Temptations and 3 Dogs at Night.
This poster is funny. Tonight is The Hopper Family, which is gospel. Then on Thursday it will be Jake Owen, who sings country. On Friday its Starship and Saturday its Joan Jett. Four great night of FREE entertainment sponsored by tourism and chamber of commerce and a host of other great sponsors. Can't wait, it will be a lot of fun.
The Heat is a real Problem for alot of us, sure wish this was in October, just too hot for many of us to go downtown during the day.
Why have this in August, is there no give or disscusion on a possible change of time at all?? Wow, Just really too hot. Think it will be a great Nibroc, wish I could get down there more.
W O W TONIGHT WAS GREAT A LITTLE HOT BUT GREAT.BRUCE AND HIS BOYS DO A GREAT JOB!!!! oh dont let me forget bruce's girls work hard as well.MUST BE THE PAY!
nothing but commentment !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The posters on this site have taken a little break from it. They must be at nibroc having a great time. I'll bet they are attending those outstanding concerts!!!!!!!
No, no, the wife and I had a good meal at Vintage House and saw many of our friends and a great movie at Tri-County Cinema, made sure I stayed away from the annual bubba gang love-fest. Since I was forced to close my downtown business for the week and weekend we're heading out of town 'til Monday.
Hope you have a great time at your buddy's downtown bash. You should, it costs enough.

............................................................................................. I thought women at worked NIBROC, not someone's girls. Does the big man consider workers at NIBROC to be "his girls"? And are they "his boys"? I thought they were men, not boys. NIBROC belongs to the businesses and people of Corbin. It is not someone's play thing.
The poster two back sounds like all the rich snobs that live in corbin that think they are to good to attend nibroc. Post your business so all those who love nibroc will stop trading at your business. Lets us know we can take our business elsewhere. I am sure you are afraid to let us know. Better yet why don't you move to London. The little people in town like to enjoy things, maybe not all of us can afford Vintage and the movies.
I wasn't able to attend the NIBROC concert last night but the people I talked to that did said they had a good time in spite of the heat. There is a lot of hard work that goes into it. Men or boys. Women or girls. Either way NIBROC is a class event. We all know that the anti NIBROC poster is the same poster that tries to discredit the Econ Dev Director all of the time.

Take a walk down Main Street see how many businesses are closed during NIBROC. You won't be doing business with any downtown businesses if that is yor attitude and NIBROC is your #1 priority. The well being of downtown businesses should be everyone's priority.
We went down to the Starship concert last night, and it was FANTASTIC!!!!!!! A great crowd, great music, just great all around. IMO, it's the best in years (of course that's my kind of music so that helps).
And, the nibroc is great this year. Maybe next year they'll take the advice from here and put all the vendors on one side of the street so people can walk. The motorcycle vendor had his stuck out in the street so it was hard to get by. Still, a great nibroc. No complaints about the festival. And the carnival has some good rides and is very well run.
And I've noticed something, as I've been down each night. The volunteers are working their butts off, and the nibrock heads just walk and talk and politic, taking all the credit. The chairman and his cronies should be out there, humping boxes and trash and ice and everything, not schmoozing with the band and shaking hands with the politicians. That's what the problem is. If those volunteers quit on him, he'd have a mess. He needs to be out there and working, sweating and getting dirty, like his volunteers. I've voluteered before, and that's why I don't any more,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,.
And congrats to the city of corbin as well. Even though the cities emergency services folks are making overtime, they are stil there, and providing a presence, a show of force so to speak, and after speaking to many of them, they seemed to be enjoying themselves even though they had to be there. Congrats to them and all the emergency services people. Several of my out of town (london, w'burg, b'ville) friends commented on how many emergency services people are there, and how it gave a more secure feeling to the overall atomsphere. Again, Congratulations.
If anything, these volunteers and workers need an award of appreciation for sticking it out these hot days and nights.
nibroc this year is just AWESOME1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Chamber of Commerce and Tourism people have done a great job this year. The people of Corbin need to thank them for their hard work in one of the best nibroc ever, especially the entertainment.
The poster two back must not have notice the workers behind the stage or the ones in front who made sure no one got in front of wheel chair people. They are the ones who set everything up including the chairs for the concert. They have put in long hours, the poster two back is observing from a reserved seat for only a couple of hours. Come today, stay all day and see who is working!!!!!

you got that right. they are just jealous they can't stand up there. this board is about jealous people getting to vent it.
Starship was outstanding last night, my kids loved it, my friends and their kids loved it - that is what nibroc should be about - family, community and downtown businesses being a focal point. The concert crowds were not nearly as big as past years, but that is OK with me.
I've seen Joan Jett and had a great time when I did, but tonight unfortunately I won't be down there because Jett is not the kind of event I or anyone should want to take their 8 and 10 year olds to, and it is not what nibroc is about.
I was looking at the Weekender section of the Herald-Leader and there's not a word anywhere about any of the concerts. Starship and Joan Jett? For free??? That deserves more than a passing mention. But for some reason, there's not a whisper about the concerts or about the festival at all.
But as much as I like to bash the Herald-Leader, this time I'm not sure it's their fault.
For the most part, reporters don't go out looking for stories. Now they just check their email, voice mail, mailbox, and fax machines every day to see what stories they will use in their papers. Sometimes they rewrite the stories, but if the press release happens to be well-written, then sometimes they use it word-for-word.
So I'm afraid that nobody from NIBROC sent anything to the Herald-Leader. If that's the case, then we missed out again on some excellent free publicity.

The word is out on our concert. Go down and take a poll, majority of people are from out of town. A press release was sent out.
Yeah just like on Tuesday the Gov. will be here. Its a ribbon cutting for new Expo Center. A press release has been sent out. Do you think the Lex paper is going to cover it? Heck our own paper may not cover it.

Jealous? Yep, you figured it our Einstein, I lose sleep over not being a "standing up there big shot" like you at nibroc, one of thousands of such festivals in the country.
Do you really take yourself that seriously? Sorry, while I have some fun at nibroc and enjoy some of the music, "standing up there" at nibroc is not one of my goals in life, and many, many people do plenty of community and charity work without worring about being seen "standing up there".
While there are a few silly comments on this board, including yours, I see this message board as an avenue for people to give their ideas on how to improve things, and I see many positive comments about Corbin, as well as some pretty good ideas. Maybe one day when you and your "stand up there" gang don't think you are all the rave you might listen to a few of the good ideas I've seen on here.
Oh yeah, don't fall off from "up there" - it's a long fall from the top of nibroc mountain.
This is the best NIBROC ever. Can't wait for JOAN JETT. The poster who said they wouldn't bring 8 or 10 year old to concert, I am sure you don't let them watch TV either then. I don't see what the problem is? Can you inform me on what will be so bad. Its rock n roll!

I agree with the other poster as a mother of three I wouldnt take my kids to Joan Jett, no offence to her. If you want to take your kids to Joan Jett thats your business. Go to her website and look around. Its fine for teenagers and older but you would take your 8 year old?
