If your food wasn't cooked to your asking then, by all means, you should have told someone. Why eat what you didn't order? Who's to say that on that night it may have been your waitress' first night and she pulled someone else's order and they, in return, got yours!? By all means.. if you don't get what you ask for then speak up! If not.. then don't speak at all.

Doug is a fantastic person and he demands nothing but perfection in his business and will not settle for less. All you had to do was to tell him and he would have taken care of your mishap. He's a good and honest person. He's worked for his living like most of us have.

I know your hesitant to 'complain' as I've done so in other area restaurants and you wonder if your food is spit on! YUCK! You are most likely talked about behind your back by owner's but that's not the VH. That may be somewhere else in town.. but not there. Speak up

1.Doug's presents is rare!

2.Where does this spiting on food come from, stick to the subject.

3.Obvious that you have an inferiority problem.

4. You must of pissed someone off bad if you worry about your food.

5.Get a life.

6. By me knowing who you are, you need to work on fixing that nose problem you have. Hint

1. Doug has been there nearly every time I have eaten there.
2. I don['t know.
3. How can you tell if the person who wrote that has an inferiority problem? Are you a professional in the field of psychic science?
4. Do you have to use naughty and nasty words to hit back at someone?
5. Evidently the person who wrote that does have a life.
6. If you know who the person is that wrote that message why didn't you treat them with more respect in your reply.
My role in the world is to try to get people to express their feelings openly and with civility. This is a good forum for us to express ourselves and our beliefs. But think how much better the world would be if we respected each other.

I am sure you are a wonderful person and your opinions are very important. Let's make the world a better place by speaking kindly to at least five people everyday excluding the loving words we shower on our family members. Peace be with you.

Thought this was worth another response -

1) Doug's "presents" might not be there, but his presense is - Doug is at the VH 95% of the time I've been there, and I eat there weekly. He also takes care of any problem I or friends of mine have ever had. There are some restaurants who ignore the "Customer is always right" policy, and it definately costs them business. VH is not one of them.

2) I didn't see a particular establishment mentioned in this person's comments, so it could be one of many.

3) It sounds like you have a "Superiority" problem if you talk the trash you are talking. Are you a former NBA player?

4) I don't worry about my food because I don't go back to bad restaurants.

5) This person must have a life or they wouldn't be able to eat at the VH (wouldn't be able to type either.)

6) You not only have a superiority problem, but you think you are Houdini also. OK, tell me what I'm thinking now?

It also sounds like you have issues with people that suffer from large or ugly noses - shame on you.

P.S. Thanks for this site and message posting board. Along with some pretty educational comments, the sillyness like this person's post keeps me entertained.

Golly gee, ya think?

No, it wasn't over my head, just having some fun with Houdini and his knows-it-all but really knows nothing attitude, but I appreciate you spelling it out for us Fly.

Speaking of spelling...

We had our family Christmas dinner at The Vintage House on December 23, and every person in our party of ten enjoyed the night. We ordered everything - Calamari, Pecan-Crusted Halibut, Salmon, Ribs, Prime Rib and more - all outstanding and prepared exactly how we wanted. Our waitress also did a great job with our large group.

I have always enjoyed great food and service at this restaurant. My hats off to Vintage House - Corbin should feel fortunate to have such a great establishment.

We also had our work Christmas party there, 124 people! We were served in 28 minutes. Again twenty-eight minutes! Last year the party was held at a different area restaurant in town and it took over 2 hours. Needless to say, we didn't go back there. Our food was outstanding! Nothing but good to say about the service of that wonderful establishment.

Our family had dinner last week and the service and food were excellent. The noise in there was not bad either. Corbin has an excellent Restaurant at the Vintage House.

I totally agree. The Vintage House is a great restaurant but when I get home, my clothes do smell like smoke and I assumed it was from the wood stove. I think printing all of the other comments were unnecessary and mean.

We love the Vintage House. We are taking some more out of town visitors to the VH again this week. We do have some fine restaurants in Corbin and we should support them.

We've visited this restaurant several times. The wife and kids have been even more often for work and school meal/meetings.

The food is always perfect, and the atmosphere very nice.

The music in the evenings is much too loud. We try to ask for tables as far away from it as possible.

It can be pricey, but, so can the big city places as well. I justify it like this. I can eat here and get good food, usually good service, and pay about the same as I would in the cities to the north and south. I just save 10 to 15 bucks for gas that i don't have to buy by staying here. Also, I don't spend two or three hours on the interstate.

We really like this place.

I agree, the music is too loud. I've had most of the menu items here and they were all great, and one thing people sometimes don't realize is that you can eat at some of these places on the cheap if needed. Vintage House has some of the best pizza I've had, and for $8 to $10 you can feed two people.

We took some guests from a much larger city than Corbin to the Vintage House this week and they were pleased and impressed with the quality of the food and service. They liked the way the restaurant was laid out and said they wished they had a restaurant like the Vintage House in their community. This is a very good restaurant attraction for our area. Let' support it.

This restaurant was suggested to us by the staff at the Lexington Hyatt when we told them we were driving to Atlanta. What a great surprise, beautiful restaurant, food was outstanding and great service. We will likely now stay in Corbin Tuesday on our way back from Georgia. Like the website also, looks like Corbin offers more than we realized.

Are there any downtown hotels or Inns near the restaurant, or are all of the decent places out at the exits?

Our community is pleased you stopped and enjoyed dinner at the Vintage House. We had guests from Richmond this week and they were also pleased with the quality of the food and service. Our main motels are at the I-75 exits. There will probably be some more added in the next few years. There is an Exposition Center that will be built near exit 25, the south exit to Corbin. This will be a center that will seat approximately 7,000 people, and there is a new technology center managed by Eastern Kentucky University that is near that site. Colonel Sanders first restaurant/motel museum is on US 25 just north of Corbin. We hope you will come back often.

I'll jump in here just in case no one else does before you return to Corbin.

All the hotels are on the exits. I'd suggest exit 25 establishments. There are three fairly new ones, Best Western, Country Inn and Suites, and Holiday Inn Express. I've heard they are all very nice.

While here, be sure and try to go down to Cumberland Falls State Park. If you stay at exit 25, you're already on the road that leades to the park. You can be there in 15 minutes or so. Even in the wintre time, it's beautiful. I believe it's the second largest water falls in the country.

And, be sure and visit the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant. It is a combo restaurant and museum, as it was the first original restaurant for KFC. It's worth the visit. Even with us living here, every time I go in, I look at the exhibits.

A driving suggestion for you. The interstate is terrible lately, particularly from corbin to lexington. Construction, wrecks, you never know when you'll be delayed indefinitely.

When you leave corbin, go up to the Somerset exit at london. I believe it's the #41 exit. It's the Somerset exit though. Get off here, and take Highway 80 to somerset, then get on US 27 at somerest, north. This is a very beautiful drive, with gorgeous farms, some small towns and such. And, although some of it is two lane, you'll be in lexington at about the same time, maybe 20 or 30 minutes longer, but it's a stress free and beautiful drive.

It takes you into to Nicholasville, and into Lexington on Nicholasvill road. You can get back to I-75 north very easily, just take New Circle road or Man O' War back to the interstate.

If you're not in a hurry, you'll love it.

You can never have too much positive input though.

Glad to have you.
If possible, please leave a post about your experiences, be they good or bad. The only way we (corbin) know of problems or if we're doing things well, is from folks like you.

Welcome, and please come back.

Best food and service in the area, and the pizza is GREAT! Previous message said the pizza was the best in town, and they were right. My kids can go with their friends and for $8 feed two people, at a high-end restaurant.

Heard the "V" house is moving North... Rumor has it that someone has offered a location.. they are upset they can't seat folks upstairs. I don't know how they could manage serving everyone up and down. They struggle with just downstairs 1/2 full. Food is great, but service is on some occassions lacking!

That would be a real shame. I've heard they are now and always have been upset on the sunday sales issue. They've been open what now, 3 1/2 years. They probably got a five year lease, with an option to renew for 5, for an additional 15% lease increase after the first 5. Even if it was for 10, the potential of that restaurant is tremednoud. So, london money offered to buy out their last year or so, maybe even more, for cash to the lease holder, and build or remodel for them up there, and add the sunday sales for food and alcohol and, they would be crazy not to. They've made their name, so their customers will follow them.

I sure hope this isnt' so.

Nibroc fan, do you have knowledge of this, or was that speculation? Corbin, it's time to contact the mayor and city commissioners and get them aware of this situation. This would be devastating to Corbin to lose this fine institution. If it takes Sunday sales to keep the Vintage House, they better get on it TOOT SWEET!!! This would be a perfect opportunity for them to act and politically say they HAD to do it for the future of Corbin!

No knowledge as far as talking to the owners themselves, no. Speculation only, but my information was received from folks whose comments I put a lot of confidence in that would not make something like that up, some would say a "highly reliable" source. Again, this is third party information I am speaking of, so please no commets such as "nibroc fan said".

The london offer issue is one that happens in business very often, especailly with successful business's. It's like the outlet malls in pigeon forge. One year, they're in one outlet mall, the next year, they've moved to another. The mall management just buys out their lease as they are a big draw, and moves them to their new mall.

The same with a good business here.

The sunday sales issue is a very low key issue with corbin government, and it shouldn't be.

For anyone wanting verification, drive up to london on sunday, at different times, and check their alcohol serving restaurants. Especially in the summer. They're always half full or better on sunday. We're up there at least 2 sundays a month, so I speak from personal experience.
