Dr. Perry is a good guy and so is Mr Hodge But:

Dr. Perry should keep to treating patients at the Doctors Park, he may get elected as Mayor of Corn Creek which is where he really lives, that's about all. As for Hodge, he'll have plenty of time to sleep at night as HD Moses will send him back to his Barber Shop on May 16th.

Politics is always interesting and exciting.

Thats interesting. You say vote for "someone who knows where they come from", but from the way it appears, I don't think they even know where they came from this morning driving to work (or where they truely call home).

Willard McBurney is a good man and will serve ALL of the people. Nothing against Dr.Perry, Truman is a good person also, I just don't much care for the small group of "Hidden Agenda" locals who recruted him to run.

Truman Perry is not being recruited or backed by anyone.  Can the same thing be said about Willard Mcburney, I don't think so.  As to where he comes from, it seems alot of people think they know more than they do, the author of the previous message included.  No one is talking about any issues, except how to give this race to Mr. Mcburney.

Read what Mr.Perry said in this week's news Journal, he does NOT have the TIME to give to the Mayor's office, there is no such thing as a Part time Mayor anymore even with the City Manager form of Government.

Ask Mayor Miller the time it takes to run the City, in 1950 you could get away with part timing it, in 2006 that is impossible. Mr. Perry is not going to walk away form his prcatice and can not give the mayor's office the time and effort it takes in this new age.

Also, several opinions he has on Tax's are very disturbing given the sky high prices of almost everything today, I also disagree on Sunday Alcohol sales, I've lived in Several places where they make plenty of money 6 days a week.

Sorry but Perry is not the right person for this job in 2006, maybe in 1956.

Last point, Perry's personality is not outgoing. If your going to win and be a success in Politics you have to be outgoing and personable, Perry is just too low key, not friendly. We need him in the Doctor's Park, not the Mayor's office.

From my observations, one thing is certain. Whichever of the Mayor candidates win in November, it will take a while for them to learn what they are doing at City Hall. For a period of time it will be a matter of someone saying "sign here" and "initial here". For the good of Corbin, I just hope that the learning curve will be short.

Do these men even know municipal terms? LGEA, Municipal Aid, KLC, COWS, GOLD? Do they know the difference between an ordinance and a resolution? It would have been good for the Mayor candidates to have served a term or two on a board or committee. Or perhaps the City Commission.

This is even more reason to elect experienced people to the City Commission in November. Our new Mayor will need all the help he can get.

Well said!! Gooood Points!

Unfortunatley the pay does not quite attract the CEO's of Big Companies who are very well suited to running large Budgets and working with different entities, your correct on the learning curve but like you said it will take TIME and the person who win's has to dedicate the TIME as it is NOT Part Time anymore, just tooo many big decisions.

Again, you make excellent points!

Very true statement, but under the guidance of the mayor and city commission they should be instructing the city manager who works for the city what to do. The city manger  form of government is what the City of Corbin voted years ago. He should be running the daily operations of the city, reporting back to the mayor and commissioners. He should be working with the state, all branches of city govt., securing and writing grants, and an open door to the citizens of Corbin. Apparently Dr. Perry does understand the way Corbin's government is suppose to operate. The citizens of Corbin pay the substantial salary for the city manager. Just something to think about.

notice the key word ''SUPPOSE to operate''

Good point "Suppose"

Just because we needed a City manager form of Govt years ago does not mean it applies today, the writer's point is correct, suppose is exactly what is happening. The BIG salary you say that is paid to the City Manager is no where in the game vs what some of the CEO's make today especially the ones that handle money the size of what the city of corbin handles.

The reality is a "Part Time" Mayor can't get the Job done in 06, we need folks like Bob Terrell and others like him who have Major Business Experience and the TIME to dedicate to the job of Mayor.

According to today's paper it sounds like the Doctor may have bigger problem's, like not being an actual Corbin resident???

Mr. terrell from what I hear and have read does have good business savy. but he is running for a totally different office. Isnt he? Corbin is a city manger and commission govt., and mayor. Do these men not have a say so in the day to day operations. In reading what this group has done to get the financial back into the good, it takes a group, not just one man who has business experience. Your city is getting ready to expand and it needs a new direction, it seems to me in reading the local papers that Mr. Smith, and Mr. Perry have the advantage in that direction, not to say that Mr. Mcburney does not. Mr. Perry seems to answer the questions in the paper better than the other two did. Being an observer from afar the best thing is to look who can lead you in the future, Mr. Perry seems to have the experience factor  in operating a day to day system in his office.  The best thing to do is vote...... Good luck Corbin.62

Part time effort gets Part Time results, answering questions in the paper is a matter of opinion, especially if you read what Mr. Perry has said on his Tax Views. As far as Mr. Smith you might want to take another look at the answers he provided the Corbin this week newspaper a few days ago, some very Bizarre views that would take us back to the Stone Age.

As for Mr.Terrell my point was that we needed more folks like hime with Major Company experience, am well aware he is running for another office. I was Implying Mr. Perry nor any of the current candidates have the kind of time & experience the city may need and that Mr. Terrell has.

Mr. Perry is a good guy but once again ask the current Mayor the demands of the job even in a City manager form of Government, we need someone who can Market, Work the Folks In Frankfort, Work the Folks at the Courthouse and in W'burg and Manage the City at the same time. Mr. Perry just can't do this treating 100 Patients per day.

Running Patients through the Doctors Park and dealing with State Senators, Congressmen and other Political Officials is completley different, silly to even make that comparison. The people of Corbin are smart we'll see what direction they decide to go in.

My name is Mike...I'm posting anonymously because I haven't figured out how to put my name up there yet. I noticed everyone posting anonymously. What's a matter? No guts?  Oh, that's right. This is Corbin....                                                                                            I've known Dr. Perry since we were kids...he has done more for my family than anyone else in this town. By the way, I live next door to Drs Park and Dr. Perry's truck is over there right now like it's been for a long time. Sometimes he parks across the street next to that dump we call the old hospital. {Another Health Issue that hasn't been taken care of by our elected officials} If I'm offending any of you politicians, good...ban me along with the rest of the folks who actually own this site. The taxpayers. After reading some of the posts and the threats of banishment,I guess the First Amendment doesn't apply to this overpriced website paid for with our own tax money. If you want to see the problem Dr. Perry refers to, just hang out at Walmart and count the overweight people going in and out, along with the folks smoking coffin nails.  You'd be surprised by the high percentage. You'll see most of them at the local hospital sooner or later. Sooner than later. As for the other candidate, don't know him. He might be a nice guy, but I haven't heard any discussion of issues from him. And he's not sued or had me followed yet. As for David O., we don't get along... but I have to agree with all the letters he's written to the newspapers. BTW, whose performing at this year's mess they call the Nibroc? Iron Butterfly? Herman and the Hermits? Nappy Roots?Have you guys booked Larry the Cable Guy for the opening act at the SE Expo Center yet? And a tractor pull the week after?...Another waste of money. You know $12 million makes a lot of interest. Whose benefiting from that. Will that be included with the 12 mil when it's over? I can think of 12 million things we need in this town besides an Expo Center. It'll just benefit a chosen few. What's up with the Technology Center? Renting it out for weddings? I never see anyone up there. Some more waste? If this is edited or deleted, I'll throw it up on my website with a few more lines and a larger audience.

PS I bet you couldn't tell I graduated from CHS...no misspellings

Gee, isn't the Governor of Kentucky a doctor? And isn't potential Presidential candidate Bill Frist from Tenn. a doctor?

It is valuable to debate and discuss these issues. Both Willard McBurney and Dr. Perry are good people. The question about whether or not Dr. Perry can devote enough time to leading the city is a legitimate question. He is an excellent physician and has a very good practice. Willard can devote the required time to this position. The good news is that they are both very good people.

Two fine examples of rock solid leadership, wouldn't you say?

If you are trying to help Perry you are doing a pitiful job of it. Maybe the next time you get home from Angels & Wings at 4am you should just go to sleep instead of posting booze induced rants.

The Poster is correct, if your trying to help Truman out then stick to the issues and not rants & raves. Again, you certainly hurt your guy out more than helping him.

After reading some of the stuff that was posted, I thought someone should defend Dr. Perry. I would do the same for you or anyone else that I know that has been misrepresented.{Someone had posted that Dr. Perry is not outgoing, too low key,and not friendly} That's not the man I know. The man is highly educated, served our country, chose to move back to Corbin, runs an efficient business and I know that he can multi-task. Like I mentioned before, this man has done more for our family than anyone else in Corbin. The poster is correct in what category?...Our Governor lacks solid leadership or Mike likes to drink, hang out at Angels and Wings, rant and rave at 4 in the morning....Well, we elected the Governor and Mike doesn't drink alcohol. {I even voted against alcohol sales}I do happen to stay up late on weekends. I referred to the Governor and Frist as doctors who became politicians. They must have done something right.

Mike (if Mike is your real name),

After reading all of your posts across this message board it doesn't sound like your only issue is the small number of comments about Dr. Perry - I see rants about NIBROC, the Tech Center, this website, Corbin High School, the people of Corbin that you describe as fat and gutless, and much more.

It sounds like Corbin is your issue. Maybe Dr. Perry can do you another favor and refer you to a top-notch Psychoanalyst to help you vent your anger and numerous issues, and to deal with the apparent paranoia you have about being followed.

Larry (The Cable Guy)

Larry, It seems like you are more interested in confrontation on the message board than speaking like an adult. Why don't you leave an intelligent message instead of trying to attack someone that is leaving an intelligent message? Back up some of your rants with facts....sounds like you work for this page or something and I am not even from the area....

Maybe I went too far with the "Psychoanalyst" joke, but regarding backing up my comments about "Mike's" issues with Corbin, all you have to do is read his posts. The facts are there in Mike's postings in black and white. He rips the people, the schools and local education, NIBROC, the Tech Center, etc.
