Your slick talk doesn't get you any where.Like I said earlier if you read my post, what you say is your opinion and right to say it. I have the right to Disagree with you. Since you are advocating freedom of speech, Tell your thoughts to one of our Service Men or Women who have made a choice on their own to serve. Why have I not heard any of the Liberal Democrat leaders who oppose the Policies of the commander in chief make statements like you have, directing them to the Troops themselves. If you feel so strongly, Use your Freedom of Speech to say the things you say in these posts to a service person that is serving in our military. Tell them that you believe they are serving based on lies and failed policies. See where you get! This is your freedom of speech, but then again, is it that you folk's do not want the Troops Serving, or that have served, really know how you feel about their cause? DOUBLE TALK! DEMOCRAT PARTY-Tell you one thing and do another!!!!

I'm a Republician, but I agree with the other posts, and I'm not so sure all of your opponents on this are "Liberals" and "Democrats". I'm in college and have friends who are serving, and you think the conversation hasn't come up? We've had long discussions while on leave and after returning, and you think they all think the fight is worth it? You say "serving based on lies", I say FIGHTING IN IRAQ based on lies. There is a difference in serving your country, and being forced to fight ill-advised war based on mostly bad intelligence and lies.

I respect your opinion, But I disagree. For Instance, can you tell us all who FORCED your friends to Join the Military.I'm sure they chose to serve on their own. With this in mind, you have to be required to fight for your country when called by your leaders. If I coach a basketball team and my players don't believe we can win, and don't think we should be playing the #1 team, what do you think will probably happen? We lose. being in the Military is a choice of call to duty, standing at all times ready to fight the enemy no matter what, where, or when. When you have this kind of attitude your gonna win. I know the Military Folk's I talked to are proud to be making a difference in the lives of others in Iraq,They believe in what they are doing. This is why they joined the Military. And by the way, tell the folks relatives who were gased by chemical weapons at the hand of SADAM, this is all about lies. See what those people tell you. Or do you think this ever happend?

1. Even when there was a draft Cheney had other more important things to do than serve in the Military. And Bush stayed out of harms way by joining the Guard.
2. Our brave military personnel are fighting bravely. However, before they are sent to war they should be equipped properly. Their vehicles have not had the body armour to protect them from mines and IED's. Some of the troops families had to purchase the new and better protective jackets, the Bush-Cheney-Rumsfeld team did not have a post war plan and in four years we don't have a reliable Iraq Security force that can bring security to the people of Iraq.
3. Each day I look at a website "Iraq War Casualties" so that I will read and pay respects to each of our troops who die in Iraq. If they die in Iraq, or are wounded in Iraq, or serve in Iraq, they deserve leadership that is com;petent and concerned about their safety. The leadership these troops have been given from Washington has been pitiful.
4. Every day that passes more and more Americans, Republicans, Democrats, and Independents are realizing that imposing a democracy on a nation that is in a civil war will not work. we are the enemy of all the religious factions in Iraq, Iran, Syria, Saudi Arabia, and all the middle east. They have been killing each other for several thousand years.
5. We need to win the War on Terrorism but in winning it we cannot bleed our nations military and our economic strength overseas and let things crumble here in America. Some 50 million people do not have medical insurance. Our good paying jobs are being exported overseas. Retirement programs for workers are declining each year.
6. And one of the most grevious sins of all is that the Bush-Cheney team cut the taxes of the richest people in America while our troops are fighting in a war. In the history of our nation that has never happened before. The huge majority of the population in this country are not suffering over the Iraq War, but the famkilies and loved ones who are in that Civil War are seeing their sons, daughters, wives, husbands, fathers, mothers, brother, sisters, and othere have their tour of duty extended, and some have gone back for the third and fourth time.
7. Before any leader of our country ever sends our beloved sons and daughters to war they had better do a better planning job, prepare to win, and prepare to exit,

I respect the opinion of those who disagree. I respect your love and loyalty to our nation. But I served in our armed forces to be sure we all have the right to express our opinions.

Boy, if that wasn't lifted straight out of the democrat playbook. So, complaining aside, what's your solution?

Again, as a Republican I agree with the other poster, and you keep making this a "Democrat" vs. "Republican" thing. These issues the poster outlined don't sound partisan to me, but you keep throwing it in that direction. Having the proper equipment? It's been well documented our soldiers don't. Throw in Military pay cuts while the rich get tax breaks, and some of these other issues, and you have to question Bush's patriotism. Quit making these posts that don't agree with yours "A Democrat Thing." Bush is a bad President, the worst ever, and most Americans know it. We screwed up - we trusted him.

Boy I wish you were around when Vietnam started, and when it ended. How many were lost in Vietnam? Who was the President then? Do you think Vietnam was a just War? This war is nothing compared to what happened to me there. What is your opinion?

President Eisenhower was President when we sent our first advisors to Vietnam. I was in the service at that time.
President Kennedy became President and we went from advisors to fighters of the War. President Johnson escalated the number of troops and in 1968 didn't run for re-election because the war was dividing the country. President Nixon became President and it took him several more years until he brought the troops out of Vietnam.

I believe four of our Presidents made mistakes in that war and that our troops served with courage and bravery.

Thanks for the Post. I just wanted some of these folks who are posting to not forget about us. I know there are alot of opinions about the Iraq war, but Vietnam was much worse. Let's all stand behind the troops, whether you believe they should be there or not. Again, lets not forget about Vietnam, so no need to cast anymore stones at this President while our troops are in war.

I agree that our troops in Vietnam were brave and sacrificed a great deal for our country. They will be remembered for their courage and loyalty.

I'll chime in here again.

I work with many persons, male and female, that has served in Iraq. There are about 10 more or so still there, those that I work with that were called up, and they hope to be home soon. I receive emails from them from time to time as well. I have had long talks with many of them , the vets who've returned, about almost anything you can think of about the war. I have told them my opinions about the pres and his policies, and the vets service in Iraq being honorable. Not a one had anything to say about my opinions, and several agree with me. Others don't. Also, I have learned many new things about the war and the troops situation there, things the news doesn't talk about. Ask the vets that have dealt with the "contractors" what they think about that. I have. Now there's an interesting issue. Only problem is, it's not published very much. As some of them have told me, not all the troops deal with the "contractors".

I have served, and they know that. Different time, different era. Same situation overall.

Yes, I can support the troops, and not the politicans that started this.

I know this post is about 10 or so too late to get in the mix, but, I just got to it.

Very well stated NIBROC FAN. Our troops have done a great job with courage and dedication. Our leaders have done a poor job with their deception, corruption, and incompetence. We have lost 155 contract personnel and they are brave, too. But they get paid so much more than our men and women in the service in Iraq. I can't remember reading, or in my lifetime being aware that we ever had this mix of contract security personnel in one of our wars. We are stretched to tight that our men and women have had to go back three or four tours of duty.

I agree we can support our troops in the war, while at the same time demanding that our leaders cease the deception, corruption, and incompetence we have witnessed.

As many already know, Cheney is the ringleader. People say Bush is his own man and follows his own convictions, but for the most part that is nonsense. Cheney is Bush's top advisor and for the most part his decision maker, and has used his influence to help himself and his friends. Cheney and his friends, as well as Bush and others, are scoring major profits off this war, but what they fail to realize is you can't spend money in Hell. In fact, some local political fugures, and well as a few local business people, need to remember this messege as well. In Hell there are no limos, no casinos, no DC Partys, no land deals, no drugs to shove up your nose, no Frankfort pardons, no Plasma TVs, no plush offices, no Yellow Hummers, no barstools at The Depot, nobody to try to bully or intimitade, no saying "But I go to Church" to try to cover your actions, no hypocrisy, and no mountain to look down from on the "Little People" or less fortunate.

Using so-called friends, screwing over others and stepping on people for personal gain isn't what we are taught by our parents or in the bible. Our parents, if they have passed on, see all that we do now, how we live our lives, and sadly many are ashamed. We all also face "The Judge" eventually. We are all judged by how we conduct our lives and how we treat others, and many from the above mentioned group have to be a little terrified when they look in the mirror.

Good luck.

I saw on the news a couple of days ago, that the military was orderdd to stop a practice called "stop gap recruiting", I think that's what they called it.

It's where the stop discharges and retirements, no one gets out. THey said it wasn't the entire military that was being done this way, only certain jobs and ranks.

I had not heard that they were doing that, had anyone else.

I think that must be why they aren't worried about a draft, if they don't let anyone out, they don't need to.

This Practice has existed for 150 Years, Mostly for Officers and Very Tech Folks that are Extremley Hard to replace, very sensitive and Technical Folks only.

This issue and a Draft are actually very separte but on the subject of a Draft I think we may be close, about 6 Million Men according to the Selective Service that are Registered and Ready. What is going on now is a drop in the Bucket if the President Enables his Power to Activate and Draft.

He Clearly has this Authority under the War Powers Act, let's hope this slows down and the Iraqis take Control of their own destiny, any offensive move by Iran at this Point may mean a Real War, this one is Bad enough but nothing like a War with a Real Power who has lot's of Weapons (Iran). The World has not seen the Real Power of the Navy & Army that could actually be released, itchy trigger fingers and nervous people on both sides.

I think the Iranians will Blink very shortly------------------Watch what happens in about 3-Weeks!

VP Cheney has spoken out against the remarks of former Federal Reserve Board Chairman Allan Greenspan who said in his new book that we are in Iraq for one main reason.....oil.

We all appreciate Cheney's willingness to challenge a very popular and respected financial expert such as Greenspan.  Cheney is a much better financial expert than Greenspan and we should all appreciate the great job Cheney is doing in giving his total support to our President George W. Bush.
