After reading The News Journal yesterday with the questions to both of the Judge Executive candidates, it is more than obvious as to which of the two is best qualified to manage the daily business of our county. Bob Terrell clearly has a plan and, I believe, the knowledge and desire to take us out of the doldrums. Please everyone, help us all and VOTE BOB TERRELL.

OK. you may not believe it ask then Willard is such an honest man he should be fine with letting everyone know Jimmy Vance and a few close frinds are also bacing him.

Also didn't Dick Vermillon have a shady past?

JV and Willard are not cut from the same mold. Who knows who JV is backing and who really cares. Willard doesn't work deals with anyone except the man above.

remember that when he plays his role in the upcoming CB christmas play.  I just want to know who is backing him and yes it does matter.  I know no one is backing Dr. Perry.

Are you accusing Willard of having a shady past? Better be careful.

No, it really doesn't matter who JV says he is backing if Willard never asked for his support, which he did not. These two are like night and day, and Willard doesn't work deals with the likes of who you are referring to. Willard will do what "the people" want, not what "a person" wants.

Willard and Dr. Perry are both very capable people. Willard has more time to devote to the people of Corbin. He is an honest person, and people should not be accusing him of being tied in to any group. That is not the way Willard works. He is interested in helping make Corbin a better community. I believe Dr. Perry is also interested in helping our community. But he is a very busy Doctor with huge demands for his time in his medical practice. I believe Willard can do an excellent job and has the time to devote to this job.

The people want to know what Willard wants. As was stated earlier, the Sunday Sales vote could come fast. A motion and a second and it's up for a vote.

Willard will not have time to check and see what "the people" want. Besides, the "the people" are divided on the Sunday Sales issue.

A man that sometimes walks with Willard has told many people that Willard will definately vote YES for Sunday Sales.

One of the Land/Liquor Investors is telling people that Willard has accepted money from them and will vote YES for Sunday Sales.

Now, the truth is that these people may just be saying that. Perhaps to confound the Sunday Sales issue. But Willard has avoided making a stand one way or the other so it sort of adds up.

McBurney needs to say if he would vote YES or NO.

This is not a time for a Mayor candidate to be undecided.

Oh grow up stop the name calling.  Willard is going to be doing so many favors this town is going to be turned upside down.

Anonymous 1 proclaimed from the Chicken coop:

Anonymous 2 scribbled with crayon:

Who is this idiot?

Anonymous 1 again posted some additional silliness:

Oh grow up stop the name calling.  Willard is going to be doing so many favors this town is going to be turned upside down.

The name calling is childish, but your postings are comical.

The following are more likely to occur than Willard and JV teaming up:

-- The News-Journal and the Times-Tribune saying they love each other

-- Central Baptist Church having their Christmas Party at Angels and Wings

-- George Bush announcing an immediate troop withdraw from Iraq

-- George Bush announcing the all withdrawn troops will be re-deployed to all Blue States

-- Bill Clinton cancelling his Hustler subscription

-- Pat White Jr. showing up at a forum

-- Pat White Jr. showing up at a forum on his Bulldozer

-- Phil Gregory missing a .12 cent mistake on a $75,000 invoice

-- Unisex restrooms being implemented at El Dorado

-- Donald Rumsfeld consulting with John Kerry on war strategy

-- .79 cent-a-gallon gas prices

-- Kim Jong-il teaming with Bruce Springsteen to launch the 2007 "No-Nukes" concert tour

In other words, it ain't gonna happen.

OK, I'll wait for your next cliche'.

We outa sell tickets to this circus. McBurney is going to win easy or anyone else who would have ran against Dr. Perry. You have to campain in an Election, yes that means going door to door and actually been enthusiastic and outgoing.

Dr. Perry has been no where, McBurney is in every neighborhood in Corbin. My neighbors and I can not believe how many times we have seen hin walking up our street, we have not seen Dr. Perry anywhere? This is a BIG area.

Dr. Perry is also facing an old and very powerful Political family that has been around a long time and is very good at running elections, a powerful machine. Not saying this is right or wrong but is what it takes to run and win an Election. Everett Rains's family was very similar in whitley County, very organized and very powerful.

Not getting out is a ticket for defeat when facing these types of foes. This race is over and has been since May, the Commisioners Race and County Judges Race will be very interesting.

I can't believe what I'm reading!  There are more important issues that could be debated in the mayor's race.  Every posting wants to talk about who is in "cahouts" with who and which canidate would support Sunday sales!  What about discussing economic growth and development, you know, "GOOD Jobs" for the citizens of Corbin.  Not to mention issues within our police and fire departments.  This is the type of political bull that will taint any election.  Lets choose the canidate who will stand up and get things done!  I'll admit, I don't know very much about Willard McBurney so I'm not going to pretend I do and pass judgment on him or his character.  But I do know a little bit about Truman.  And he is NOT what people are trying to make him out to be.  He is a intelligent, passionate, resiliant and dedicated doctor who would bring those same qualities into City Hall.  My vote is for PERRY!  Good Luck!!!

There was a Politcal Forum last week in which these Candidates answered several of these Questions, Sunday Sales was only a small portion. They talked about Job Growth & Economic development.

The Candidates were all there and all did pretty good, maybe you should have attended and your questions you have would be somewhat clearer. Sounds like your spending tooooo much time reading the spin in this web site and not listening to the Candidates at the Public Forums discuss the issues.

your right and I heard Truman answer those questions. All I heard that Willard wanted to do was beautify downtown.  Well he needs to move back there where he once lived.  We need progress not cobblestone sidewalks.

What is Perry Going to do Beautify the rockholds area? There should not even be a mayors race based on where Perry continues to live . Just pick up your New BELL SOUTH phone book and look up where Perry resides. 426 Mcneil Corn creek road. Perry can run be he can't hide! This has been Perry's problem since he filed to run. Just asks perry's neighbors down on Mcneil Corn creek road  and they will get a good laugh about the little game Perry has been trying to play on the voters of Corbin.

Actually, I was present at last weeks forum.  And I was referring to the members of this site.  NOT the canidates.  Just wanted to make that clear.

you must be an expert on perry, because you know his every move. seems to me that the mcburney team is just alittle to worried about the race now that it is getting crunch time. you say he can run but not hide. we drive by his office everyday to and from work and his vehicle is there. we do not think he is hiding from any one especially mcburney,b. hodge and the rest of his entourage. perry can see improving the town looks also, but he has more on the agenda than beautifying the city. why did the lady who tried to sue him change her mind so quickly, apparently the entourage did not back her up or have the guts to pursue when they found out they werent going to be able to prove where perry resided or have their names mentioned in a lawsuit. mcburney keeps mentioning he is a life long resident of corbin, we did not know laurel county was in the city limit of corbin. moving back 2 years ago just to run  is not being a life long resident. all is fair in (love and war) we mean politics

I agree with you on most points - there are many other issues to concern ourselves with other than Sunday sales. I also agree with you that Truman is a good man, intelligent and dedicated. However, I believe McBurney will win because of two major reasons. One is he wants it more, and that has shown in the efforts of both men. The second is McBurney will be able to dedicate the necessary time to do the job. Good luck to both - they are both good men.

Don't forget that nasty letter some of us got. Same words, same writing, same person. In fact, alot of these letters look like they've been written by the same person, especially the a$$ kissing ones.

You're not fooling anyone but yourselves.

Vote Perry tomarrow.  He cares about our city he wants whats best for all the people of Corbin.  He has been a benefit to our city.  He takes care of sports teams, our under or uninsured citzens at little or no cost.  He wants this position not because he need the money,  but because he knows what we need.  He has paid taxes in Corbin for years. Does Willard?  No it's public record.  Mr. McBurney I am sure if a fine man, but he has no idea what our community needs to stay strong.  A decorated downtown is not going to keep us progressive.  If Mr. McBurney does get it I hope his wife makes the important decisions.  We can let him choose the storefront colors.   VOTE PERRY!

If the same people who are supportting Dr. Perry can not spell any better than this they may get confused and put McBurney in to office.
