This is the second or third time this poster has made this Statement. This is exactly the Problem the Football Team has, the team definitley needs the support of the parents and the community to proceed and grow the program.
I hope the upper post in Italic is not the President Of the Varsity Club or one of the Corbin Football Coach's. The Head Coach of Corbin Football should make a Statement here rbuking this person's approach & attitude.
Absolutley no reason to attack the Soccer Program either, their not to blame for Football problems & issues, their guilty of building a good program that the parents and kids are really enjoying.
We have had Great Tradition and Upper an Level Football Program here for many years, dating back to 1939 Corbin was delivering great undefeated teams who laid the ground work for future generations.
The Guys in the 40's-50"s carried on the tradition and futher built and put the program on the Map. All of these Coach's, Teachers & Players were outgoing and had the great ability to pull in the best of the best, they had great outgoing persona's that made you want to play and be a part of the Tradition.
We must learn to communicate & change with the times as the information age is drastically changed the way parents and children view and operate their daily lives. If we can not adapt to the new age then get used to average and below average seasons, we change and the future is Bright!!!!

That is a great post. The sports program at Corbin High School is for all the kids regardless of what sport or sports they play.
Be their friend?????????? Is that what you want?????????
I know, we'll hold their hand and wipe their noses after each down, and then give them cookies after a score, and maybe we can let them bring their laptops to the game and allow a myspace log on timeout between series.
These kids who quit because of the "horror stories" usually have the moms and dads that believe in the time out corner or counting to 5 when they misbehave. And, who more than likely never played organized, disciplined sports in their lifes.
Let them quit, they can play soccer.
They did...thats why we are mediocre nowadays. The kids should play because they want to. The only reason is to have fun. I doubt any 70's, 80's "redhound pride members" on this board went on to play professionally and earn a living playing football.Stece Bird played some but he's the exception.
One of our football coaches sons, is now not playing football. What does that tell you. Not all kids want to play football. The kids of today like many other activities. Its not just about football. Also they all realize that after high school sports, who remembers what you did or played. People need to wake up and realize its not just about football or any other sport. Its what you do with your life after football, basketball and high school. I don't mean just becoming rich but what kind of person are you. Do you go to church and are a good person in GODS eyes. People who be little or are mean will pay one way or another. Be careful who is really watching you.l

Good Post, I agree. The coach that you are referring to who's son chose to quit is a good guy and does not seem to agree with his boss' philosphy. Maybe Coach D would make a good head coach next year if we continue on the path of mediocrity this year as in recent years past.
Its better to "right" the ship before it sinks. Our football program has been taking in water for several years. Now, where's that Redhound pride...lets do something befor its too late.
Wow---The Last Posters are are sure exposing some issues. I think the only one's who agree with the current road the program is on, is the Head Coach & his Brother.
When the other Coach's own kids opt out, we have a major problem! No question Coach D would make a better Head Coach, the guy can communicate with Parents, talk with Buisiness Leaders and Expand the Program.
This is the kind of Coaching Leadership the program needs.

This post is dead on. Just look at Lex Catholic. Sure they're a little cocky but who wouldnt be after winning all of the time. Those folks not only expect to win but they expect to dominate. If they dont, the alumni demands that a new coach replaces the coach that couldnt win. Its nothing personal.

They also have a great soccer, basketball, etc and they all share the same facilities. Maybe corbin can learn from a good school how to handle its own athletics. They just recently have had success. Its not just about recruiting.
Why attack the Varsity Club again. The club supports the soccer programs. The only thing these guys want to do is create friction amoung the people that support the programs.Let the cowards show thier name !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't be so sensitive. Sure, the Varsity Club does some excellent things, but we can always improve. I have not seen you show your name.
You have got to be kidding me? Burley's son and some of his friends went to Florida with Burley on a personal trip, nothing school sponsored with no school money involved and they got to meet Freddy Solomon and he spent some time with the kids over a couple of days. His son invited who he wanted to go. Their parents allowed them to go. Do you expect that coaches or assistant coaches should quit being parents? Burley is a father first, his family loves football, and he loves coaching but that doesn't mean he should quit doing things for his family, now does it?
Wow, after watching that first quarter I thought we were going to cruch Dunbar, but we tried to give the game to Dunbar in the second half, fortunately they gave it right back to us for a 21-18 win. We have a lot of work to do, happy we came out with a win.
It is great to see the Redhounds get a victory. Dunbar's kicker was super even when he missed the last one. We will see him play at a big time College in the future.
Cashen is one of the best Quarterbacks and all around players in Kentucky. Good luck Redhounds!
Our 1st team QB is top notch. I just hopehe doesn"t get hurt. A couple of years ago we had no reliable backup. who is the backup QB this year? Is it Roman?
The Redhounds looked good Friday night. They have two good wins in a row. I hope they can keep improving. Cashen continues to look great. Some of our other players are coming along real well. Let's go Hounds!

Yes and no. Roman is probably the QB beginning next year but if Clint were to be injured this season, my guess is that Lance Freeman would be placed at QB. Roman is not ready mentally or physically, IMO.
I Like Clint as a QB, he has done well. However, Great QB's usually are better than 14 an 12 over 2 years and 3 games, the last two wins were against teams that had only won a few games last year.
The measure will start with South Laurel this week and a chane for Clint to establish his Talents this year. It's hard to hang a "Great" label on any QB that starts 3 years and only ends up at 500.
This is a great chance to really prove his skill set this year, another 500 year or Even tells me that the word Great & Really Good may not quite be the case. Let's see what unfolds!
