RE: Redhound Football Team

The Specifics are already out there, repeating things to this poster does not seem to get anywhere, Once More:

Wedenesday night Practice and Church attendance is an issue, you were given a specific example from last nights practice, people go to church here! Did you not read that already??

The Interference in Little League Basketball, Baseball is the second specific, the Coaches had to contend with the Jewels all year in all three sports that their kids participated in, that's the second specific.

Third-------Ed McNeel is an Employee of the Corbin Tax Payers, his Salary is Public!!!!! The School Budget is Public, these are real and fact. Now if you disagree with the Salary I posted then go and investigate and give us your examples of why all this is not fact or what the real number is, I'll bet you give us more Philosophy instead of fact!

And I'll Close for a 3rd time by saying your still the only person out of 1600 Views now that can even try and defend these guys, again you have already stated you virtually know nothing about anything going on so thanks for the opportunity to keep this conversation alive and in front of the Public, the more you talk the more inept and factless you become.

Ok, so you're upset there's football practice on Wednesdays.  I drove by the game field (not the practice field) on a Wednesday night roughly two weeks ago and noticed the lights were on.  Thought it was strange to be having practice then but also thought, maybe it's practice after church?

Interfering with other coaches is all you say.  Do you know what they're saying?  Is the little league coach upset?  I am simply asking you what you personally have seen the coach do.  How does he (or they) interfere?

Your comment regarding Mr. McNeil's salary weirdface!  I would say you're correct in stating the school system's budget is open for public viewing.  However, I feel confident you're incorrect in stating Mr. McNeil's salary is listed.  Salaries as a total would be listed, sure but the individual salaries are private.  The fact that he's a government employee does not make his salary open to the public.  If the Corbin School System ever becomes a corporation, with its stock publicly traded, and he was an executive, then you might be able to find his actual compensation in the annual report.  Otherwise, it's private.

School Superentindint's jobs are complex and demanding. They are running one of the biggest businesses in their area. I don't have any problem in seeing our Educational leaders paid good salaries. We also need to remember out teachers and compensate them well for the jobs they do.

Actually, McNeel's salary is a public record, and you will normally have to file a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to find out what it is.  However, you will only find out his base salary, not any perks or bonus's that he may receive.  Any salary of any government funded agency is public record, and must be made available to any person submitting a request.  You don't have to submit a  FOIA, but they'll usually stonewall you until you do.  This is true not only for salaried employees, of all government (local, state of federal) but also elected officials.

Your football practice issue is a moot point with me. I see no harm in it at all.  Wednesday is not the sabbath day, it's a day of the week.  Sure it's fine to have church and other programs on wednesday, and those that choose to go and participate, more power to them.  I choose not to. Does that make me a bad person. When you discuss religious issues, you not only better be prepared to fight to defend your opinions, but be prepared to fight others that are defending theirs. Your issue is understood, I'd leave it at that.

Once again, you've failed to tell us how they're interfering with the basketball and baseball coaches. You just say they're interfering.  What exactly are they doing.  You haven't given us one, single issue about what they are doing to interfere. For all we know, you may be interfering by hanging around and asking questions about why they are interfering.

I'd be careful with the inept and factless talk, it's your issue, and you've yet to provide any facts yourself.

You're one of the reasons this board should require user names.  That way we can track who is making the mindless rants.

One of Coach Jewels rules for the varsity program is that parents stay out of the business of giving advice and let the coach's do their job, I happen to agree on this and he is exactly correct.

This rule however should apply to everyone at all levels, Little league, 7th & 8th Grade, Freshman & JV. Now, unless advice is Solicited thats another issue. I have coached one of these teams recently and had both Jewels constantly ask me questions, ask other coach's questions regarding playing time & strategies.

They do not do this with their Varsity program and most coach's do not appreciate the Interference period, at any level. It's sorta like, do what I say and not as I do, the rules for parents should apply across the Board period, let the coach's do their job, I would defend this point for the varsity also, let them do their job, but the same goes for everyone else who gives their time, it's tough to get second guessed, right?

2nd---certainly Ed Mcneels salary is Public, the details of the perks would be private. The Times Tribune or The News Journal I believe publishes this Information each year at the end of the Fiscal year. It entails the Public School Systems Budget along with other expenditures the School is required to report under Ky Law and Ed's Salary.

Now Wednesday night, your correct it is a Choice and a Relgious Issue and I am prepared to defend it and also have an issue with Sunday Practicing which is also occuring if it's only watching films. Sure it's a choice but not the Choice of Everyone, you know sorta like Republicans & Democrats, especially when many cry about power boses and cronyism, it's sorta situational now isn't it?

The last Poster is more concerned about, once again names, than debating the Issue and the Fairness point in the opening paragraph.

So the last Poster is saying, and let's get the Cards out here, that you have no problem with Wednesday night practicing or Sunday practicing even if those who do want to attend church can not, right? Ask your preacher about this Sunday, get his opinion???

Corbin has a "trap" game coming up Friday.   North Laurel is better than their record indicates and they are coming off a bye week.    Corbin is coming off a big, emotional win over Middlesboro and are out of their regular routine with it being fall break week.   This game could be close, but let's hope not too close.

Looks like the guy whining about the coaches and practicing on wednesday night is eating crow for now.

Sure the season isn't over yet.

I'm sure he'll be back, maybe next year.

GREAT GAME TONITE HOUNDS!!  This new young redhounds do have great team spirit and want to show it.  Too bad the young hounds don't ever get any recognition...  Its not fair that during Freshmen games that Corbin plays Sophmores while some Freshmen are still standing on the sideline and never get in the game.  The same ones that play in Freshmen games also play the JV games.  All these kids give are there busting their butts during the (6) day a week practices and giving their time and sweat... I can see why some get discouraged and quit.  Its sad when kids have to learn life lessons regarding these type of issues when your child gives "his all" but "his all" is just not good enough. How do you explain that even though your child is as good as the "next" but the "next"  seems to always be in the game? It would be totally different if some of these kids that don't get to play were just terrible, but thats not the case.  Is it Corbin Politics or Who You Know? Hmmmm.......

Look at it as a life lesson that makes the kid mentally tough down the road when things really matter, like in collge or professional school or on the job.

What a great year they're having. Off to the playoffs now. We can really go all the way this year.

Thank goodness no one listened to that clown whining about his son Johnny not getting to play and being yelled at, and got rid of Jewell. I've noticed that poster hasn't said much.

Good Luck Hounds, State Bound.

It was quite unfortunate for the Hounds this past friday, but what a team effort they exemplified this year. There is no reason to hang your heads guys.... you did a tremendous job this year, and I cant wait for next year.

My cousin is Head Coach at Fort Campbell, and due to the fact my in-laws are from Nashville and thats where I happened to be on Fri. for Thanksgiving, I was invited to stand on the FC sideline this past Friday night. I will tell you this, they were pumped at the chance to play against the Hounds in Louisville, and when the team found out I was from Corbin, they all wanted to know if they had a chance.... What an awesome thing to have said from a very good football team. Everybody, regardless of what they are ranked, knows the pride and tradition of our teams, and that when we come to play we come to win !!

I will now pull for the Falcons of Fort Campbell, but will be ready for next year and our chance to go all the way.

The Football Hounds had a great year, a tough Loss to a very good Belfry team at the start of the Season and a loss to one of the Best AA Powers at the end. Hat's off to the Kids and everyone who put in many hours to make this season exciting.

I do not believe ducking Bell County & Rockcastle County helped us any, playing those teams would have helped prepare us against the Top Caliber Opponents at years end. The teams we defeated this year other than Lexington Christian had a combined record of less than 500, the other coaches in the area now believe the Jewels are ducking them also.

Whitley County, Lynn Camp, Knox Central, Rock, Bell are all not on our schedule. We did pick up Dunbar who only won one game last year. There should be no difference in Playing these teams vice the ones we play out of Conf who were no better than area local teams?

23/14 over the last three years, sure glad we did not play Bell, Rock & Knox Central. The Kids are great, the Coaches are sub-par, about 40% of the wins came against the weakest teams in the state (Last year & year Before) like Casey County, Wayne County, Russell County of which we got to play once in the regular season and again in the playoffs. There is 6 of the 23 wins, the record against top 10 AA & AAA Powers over the last few years is terrible.

Again, the Kids are super, the Coaches are sub-par and the parents and teachers know it!!!!

Sorry folks the math does not add up, not a fan of our staff and hope they move on!!!!!

Did you notice this clown (easy to identify by his writing style) never posted a thing during the season when the Hounds were winning. What could he say?

Rather than give them credit for their success, he slams the for losing a playoff game. Yeah, we're going to get rid of a coach who is winning.

The facts are the facts. We had a great season and were just a couple of plays from going to the sectional championship. I dont see a need for a coaching change and am satisfied there will not be one.

The facts are the facts, what is the record over the last three years? There is much more to this situation than just the record. The conduct of the coaches, not being approachable from any angle, and last but not least, just a terrible attitude toward the parents and supporters who help make the program actually run. No respect at all, not a thank you, not a hello, no communication what so ever.

The kids and the parents who give their time should get more respect from the coaching staff, very poor community involvement and almost weird personalities and a need to stay away from almost everyone, this does not build interest in the program and certainly does not keep the parents interested.

And oh by the way, it's the kids & the parents who are doing the coaches a favor here, not the other way around. The big world unfortunatley does not take into consideration that you played for the jewels.
